I am curious about something -- what is a version that would be not "appropriate" of the Anthem?

 

Jose Feliciano at the 1968 World Series in Detroit. This is my all time favorite version of the National Anthem (IMO even better than Whitney's at the Super Bowl or Marvin Gaye at the NBA Allstar Game).

 

Jose was almost lynched after the performance. He says it nearly ruined his career.

This was kind of what I was getting at. We've heard the Anthem done traditionally a million times, to the point where it doesn't even make an impact on some folks anymore. I love a personal twist/interpretation on it, such as Jose, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

Evening session Wednesday. She was quite good, and didn't try to go overboard with twanging it up the way most girls from Kentucky seem to.

Rosanne Barr or whatever she calls herself.

For me the national anthem is not a rock song.
