Over achieving/under achieving coaches of the year

Featured Replies

I didnt intend to offend anyone. My point was this. Look at Boone County and what they did this year after losing their seniors. Look at Scott playing with two 7th graders. Great coaching jobs. I think these get over-looked and the coaches over achieved. I never meant for this to be a negative thing. The season goes by so quick that we dont realize some achievements.

I also see where you were heading......I don't believe you were intending to offend anyone, however the way threads are phrased can lead folks with an agenda down the wrong path. BTW, welcome to BGP. :thumb:

Hats off to the Coaches that have to deal with season ending player injurys and continue putting a competitive team on the floor. In the 7th region alone we have 4 teams that have managed to do this. (Sacred Heart, Ballard, Mercy, and Manual)

I'm guessing 1@done wants to do some Brossart bashing based on his former posts. He seemed to not be happy in some of his other posts. Let it loose the truth shall set you free
Really?????????? The truth shall set you free? Where did 1@done bash Brossart at on his other posts? It might have came across different when he first started the thread but I think people seen what he really meant once people started responded. Since other people understand his thought process on this topic..... "The truth shall set 1@done free". BTW..... Welcome to BGP 1@done and Zap.

Good luck to all teams this week. I hope NKY brings home a State Championship!!!!

People need to lighten up lol. I looked at this thread as to wondering who people thought, because of some great coaching, took their team further than expected. Simple as that. I do understand the underachieving part would raise some eye brows and I also won't touch that portion of it, but I will answer the overachieving part.

I will be the first to answer that question because no matter someone answers it would never be a knock on a coach but a kudos and I see no problem with that.

Nell Fookes with Boone. Whether people like her or not, she is just a pretty darn good coach when it's all said and done. Having a team that had an up and down season and wasn't supposed to do much in the district tourney yet ended up winning their district tourney deserves some kudos. so my pick is Nell.

Over achieving coach in the 4th region has to be Chris Stunson of Warren Central. They finished 14-17, but were 5-3 in the district with only losing to region favorite, and ranked, BG by 10, 3, and 8 points. They have a good draw in the region tournament and hopefully will make some noise. Congrats to the Lady Dragons and Coach Stunson on a great season, this team may be a contender for the region title in a couple of years.

Coach Stunson will be very successful throughout his coaching career, a class act.
