Over achieving/under achieving coaches of the year

Featured Replies

Now that the Regionals have hit, who do you think are the worthy candidates? Those that have had little talent and had good/great seasons or those that had good/great talent and didn't move on. Just a thought!

I assume you are thinking about teams not making it 2 the regionals or making the regionals but turning there program around or vice versus and going backwards. Great Topic!

This not a good thread imo...Just sayin

Agreed.

No one really knows how good a coach is and isn't. Most people cannot rate individual talent much less how that talent meshes on the floor.

Secondly, it's often partially personal.

Agree as well, this will not be good!! Many variables, that we as fans don't see, come into play that would affect how one sees a particular coach (and or staff). :isurrender:

You people need to let it loose. OK if you don't want to respond that's great, so you don't want to hurt Suzie's coach's heart , go for it. We all have different feelings on teams and coaches. Just a thought on something NEW. I'm not saying bashing teams/coaches, but to see to who did the best with kids and didn't.

I think all coaches give it their best effort and want to do the things that are best for their program. People will always disagree with their decisions, including me, but I know they are working hard for their kids and school. Coaching sucesses or lack of, isn't totally based on wins, losses and championships. Helping the kids grow and mature into young adults can be more rewarding and if you look at the grand scheme of things, that's more important than basketball.

Do you have an opinion?

Do you have an opinion?

I didnt intend to offend anyone. My point was this. Look at Boone County and what they did this year after losing their seniors. Look at Scott playing with two 7th graders. Great coaching jobs. I think these get over-looked and the coaches over achieved. I never meant for this to be a negative thing. The season goes by so quick that we dont realize some achievements.

I understand your point, but maybe you showed have phrased it "Over achieving/Under achieving TEAMS" Just a thought because there were many of both.

I see your point now. I first thought after reading it I was curious where you were heading with this thread but I see now. IMO..... I think Scott did a great job with having a young team and they played a pretty tough schedule and I think they will be a team to contend with in the next few years. You also have to give some props to Gallatin Co. They beat some really good teams this year and made it to the semi's in the ALL A. I like both of those teams and what they did this year.

Not offended, just figured you had an opinion, but was waiting to share it until others responded. I've not seen enough girls games this year as I normally do, so I can't weigh in on the matter.

IMO I was impressed with NCC. They had 20 wins, with good wins against teams ranked top 25 in the state. Also went to the all a state finals. They only had one returning starter and 2 players with real varsity experience and a new head coach. With 0 seniors I would say that's not too bad. Just happened to run into Highlands first round of districts.

I'm guessing 1@done wants to do some Brossart bashing based on his former posts. He seemed to not be happy in some of his other posts. Let it loose the truth shall set you free

The TRUTH is I'm a 9th Region parent throwing things out there. If you have problem, sorry for you. I watch games everywhere and I just throw the topic up. Don't have a clue about Brossart. The coach has a history of success so don't come at me unless you have reason!
