I don't have a dog in this fight. In fact, I wouldn't know Tyler Harville if he walked in my office right now.

 

I must say that for you to make a comment saying this kid led the region in turnovers is insensitive and uncalled for, not to mention untrue. We need to remember these high school kids we are harshly critiquing are 15, 16, 17, or 18 years old and not deserving of being slammed.

I would say he shoots it very well (43%), especially when you look closely and see that 2/3 of his shots are from outside the arc. Does need to cut down on the turnovers (nearly a 1/1 assist to turnover ratio), but obviously does some things very well.

 

I little hyperbole by "bridge12100", but it looks to me as though Tyler Harville was a pretty nice player for LCA.

Just for clarification on facts I did some research. Found out the following.

 

1. Harville had one game winner this season in 70-68 win over Fayette County GA. Only other game decided by one possession Drew Schacht had the game winner.

 

2. Harville didn't lead his own team in assists. Schacht had 81 compared to 80 for Harville. Schacht committed 43 less turnovers than Harville's 96, which was the most on LCA. I could only find 1 player in Lexington that had more turnover and he played at Sayre.

 

3. Harville's 41.2 percent from 3 was best I could find in Lexington among those that took at least 20 threes.

 

I think Harville was a decent high school player who is a very good shooter, but definitely needs a new press secretary who gets the facts straight.

I meant five game winners in Harville's career. Sorry for that misstatement. All I was trying to say is that for a small player (5'11" 155lbs or so) that scored 1142 career points, lead the whole state in made threes (89) and made threes per game (3.56) when noone else averaged more than 3 made threes a game, averaged 17 points a game you never hear much about him. I know Coach Hicks at Scott County loves him. Tyler made 6-6 shots for 16 points aganst Scott County as a sophmore when they upset them 55-51. He had 23 points and 7 assists in the loss to Scott County this year with Richardson and Gilbert taking turns guarding him. He made 8-11 threes in the first game versus Catholic this year. So he does it againstnst some good competition too. He shot 82% for his career at the line and made 38 in a row during his sophomore year. Like all players he has his faults and needs to improve in some areas.....but not many kids do all of the above with less fanfare. That was the only point I was really trying to make.
