If Steve Lovelace or Chuck Smith applied and anyone else is hired the entire administration needs to be fired.

While Josh is a personnel favorite of mine I have to agree. Lovelace has taken Christian County to two state championships. Lovelace can coach.

Randy Reese won state titles and was an average coach.

 

Im not taking annoying away from Lovelace but I just don't see him as a huge get where I would pass on Josh.

If its a school neither are at and I had to choose between the two I would probably go with Lovelace. But because Josh is from here and has coached in the program for several years, I'm giving him the chance over Lovelace. Henderson's defense has been solids he last few years and that's Josh's baby. Lovelace has had good years but those teams were loaded.

So this is the first year Henderson has been better than Christian? This was the first win in the last 6 years against a very down CC team and that was in double OT. Henderson being the largest public in the state can't cry that game. Plus, CC has scored fairly easily on them over the years so I don't think the D has been that good. You can't be satisfied holding down mediocre 6A competition.

JMO, but I don't think "mediocre" a fair assessment. Henderson is something like 3rd or 4th in 6A playoff wins the last four years.

 

It's going to be a tough choice for the committee. I know who has applied. When I say I know, I know. There are a couple others who haven't been talked about on here, and for their privacy I'm not going to throw them out on here.

 

I know exactly what Boston is going to sell to the committee. For one, I've heard from many people that he can coach his tail off, secondly he is going to sell them on the fact that he is Henderson to the core. He played there. Came back to coach there. Lives there and wants to stay there. By hiring him, this isn't going to be another step up the ladder as it might be for others, etc. etc. Which, I think that goes a very long way.

 

Buuuuttt...so, does the track records of other men who have been talked about for this job as well.

Without starting anymore rumors, this hiring process is getting really interesting. Some big names have been mentioned. I have mentioned some names and having second thoughts about mentioning those names because I have no sources just hear say. On a serious note, whatever happened to Jay Cobb, the coach who originally took the job after Coach Duffy left? He took the job and then left a few days later. Did he go back to Somerset? I looked up the Briar Jumpers past season and it names Coach Charles Lucas has head coach. Just wondering if Coach Cobb is still coaching or is doing something else now days.

Cobb went to Campbellsville before the '10 season. He was the HC there for '10 and '11, before resigning/retiring last summer. I believe he was still wanting to coach, but wanted to retire from teaching; Campbellsville didn't want that, so he decided to hang it up.

Is Henderson close to a decision? Anyone have any info on who has or is interviewing?

The AD has said she wants a decision to be made by the 18th. I know that they started interviews Wednesday. I don't know how many they are interviewing but if they want a decision by the 18th I wouldn't think that many. Could be wrong but I think a decision could be made any day now. Does anybody think since its taking so long it hurts Coach Boston's chances? A friend of mine and I were talking and he thinks that if they wanted to name a Coach who is already on the staff HC, it wouldn't take the committee so long to announce. I disagreed but the more I think about it, it kind of makes sense.
