Highlands 71 Mason County 45

HHS played really well tonight.

However, if you could clone human beings, I would clone #3 of Mason Co. If a coach had 8 of her, they would win every game. I don't know if there is a player in the state that plays harder than that young lady! I've seen her a couple times now and I want to get a tape of her to show my young kids what playing with passion and the desire to win is.

I don't know her name, but I should.

Bierley is a very good player.

Impressive win for Highlands!

Surprised by the margin in this one.

I'll continue the trend and say Alivia is an incredible player. RCC9, what you saw is her every game.

For those that don't know her, she can't be any bigger than 5'5" and she plays the middle for Mason Co. Have no idea what the numbers were but I bet she out rebounded our 5'11" and 6" senior and had 16pts (i think). But honestly, she could go scoreless and she would have still been my favorite player to watch. She was up front pestering the ball, flying all over the ground, rebounding, sacrificing her body for the good of the team...she is the ultimate blue collar worker that every team needs. I wish the HHS team would watch the film and have every player focus on her to get a sense of what it really takes to win. It's one thing to have mad skills and look pretty in warm-ups, but it's another thing to go out and work harder than your opponent on every possession.

I felt like Highlands didnt really do anything special last nite except make the one extra pass. JMO

Instead of taking and missing low percent, someone in your face, contested shots, they made the extra pass and made the high perecent, team basketball, uncontested shots.

When this team plays the way Coach Richey(s) wants and coaches them to play they are very good imo.

This is a team that is maturing every game.

Really surprised by the margin as well. Mason has been playing some very good basketball. I will interested to see how HHS does against Ryle tonight.

Just my opinion...I have seen Ryle play and if HHS plays like they did last night, I would expect Ryle to struggle with the birds. I don't know if Ryle has enough ball handlers to not have the birds pressure effect them. Also I think Dawn Johnson might be questionable due to getting banged up in their last game. First, I hope the young lady is okay, but secondly I'd like to see her play because I think she changes the game for Ryle. I want to see a true test for the birds... win or lose.

Expect Johnson to be out for a few weeks due to bad nose fracture from head to face collision in Monday's game, plus heel problem - is in boot. Also, Ryle lost starting center Rachel Storer to ACL over the holidays. Seems to be a lot of injuries this year in girl's basketball. . .

Well that stinks!
