Love the name. Congrats to the Dawgs.

Thought the same thing when I heard the name of their mascot.

From what I heard from someone down there who has seen both teams, Mars has some pretty good size, while Windermere is a very quick, athletic team. Should be a good match up either way for Holmes tomorrow night.

I finally get the connection to this tournament for Holmes. Windermere Prep's athletic director is Danny Haney, the former head coach of Lexington Catholic. The head coach of Windemere Prep is Ben Wilson. I recall that name as a former player at Lexington Catholic. I wonder if that is the same person if my recollection is correct. Tubby Smith's son Brian is an assistant.

Windemere has an affluent gated community as well. Many PGA/LPGA golfers and professional athletes live there. I guess that is part of the reason high school tuition is 16k a year. Board and tuition is a cool 45k a year.

All in all it should be a good experience for the Bulldogs.

Too funny, that's where I grew up. Just outside of Pittsburgh. Lovely little town called Mars.

From what I heard, Booher has connections to Haney and thats how they ended up in the tourney. Holmes had to raise the funds themselves, but it is something Coach Booher has been wanting to do since arriving at Holmes. Not 100% sure but I believe this may be an annual thing for them. (Travelling out of town for an Xmas tourney)

Holmes' girls are also down there playing in the tournament.

A little late, but here is a link to the tournament bracket. You can get some information on participating teams.

Mars beat Windemere Prep tonight in a real close game, i think it was 76-73. Dogs vs Planets at 8 pm Sat.

How good is the Mars team?

It will be a tough game for Holmes, Mars has a 6"8' center and alot of guards that can shoot the 3 and they are quick enough to beat the press, they never give up when they are down. Don't expect an easy win for Holmes.

They sound a lot like Cooper.

Jason said it'd be a very good win for his team if they win tonight.

Hoping both Newcath and Holmes return home with championship trophies.
