Impressed with how Augusta performed when Bach was saddled with foul trouble, which happened twice.

In the 1st quarter, Bach picked up #2 with Augusta leading 11-8. Panthers outscored West 5-1 for the rest of the quarter to go up 16-9. Augusta then went on an 8-2 run to start the 2nd quarter, forcing a Comets timeout with the score 24-11. West battled back & made the score 31-23 at the break.

Whatever Coach Jeremy Webb said at halftime worked, as West whittled the Panthers lead to 32-28. Bach responded with one of his vintage "Landmark 3's" as I've come to call them. Basically, this means he shoots it from so far out that I will say he hit it from some well-known landmark in the community where the game is being held (see: McDonald's in the Pendleton County game, Hardee's in the Dixie Heights game at Mason County, & the Dollar General--my personal favorite--in this game). I swear the kid hits at least one of these in every game I watch, which makes me assume he just hits at least one every game. Anyway, the Dollar General 3 gave Augusta some breathing room at 35-28.

West battled back again & cut the lead to 37-34. Bach responds with two consecutive scores, though, to extend it to 41-34. Bach picks up #4 with the score 43-37. And what does Augusta do? They score the final 6 points of the 3rd to take a 49-37 lead. Panthers end up holding that lead & winning 76-65.

Big tip of the hat to Snapp, Maddox & Kelsch. Those three primarily, in addition to Bach, played very well. Tanner Kelsch, in particular, is one of those guys who just plays the game the way I like to see it played. He's not big, but plays bigger than his size. All-out effort even if he's not shooting well, or having an off night in general. Snapp is young, but very effective out there doing a lot of things. He's good, but will be a dandy.

Finally, this game was extra enjoyable because Augusta coach Jason Hinson got T'd up. I've known Jason for a long, long time & he's always been a firecracker. I love when coaches get T'd up, but it's especially fun seeing Hinson get it.

Congrats to the Panthers on a good win! :thumb:

Oh...about West Carter...senior Kyle Brown (son of the late Hop Brown) is a heck of a player. And the big 8th grader, Ben Jordan, will be a force once his mind catches up to his body. He had a pretty solid game today.

I've been impressed with our kids getting more and more chemistry on a team that had essentially 2 varsity players back, the increasing basketball IQ of our younger kids, and the general will to find a way to win or at least give ourselves a chance against anyone we play. Some people may be shocked when they win but these kids and coaches expect to win every time they play. A neat trick at a school of 350 or so k-12

Ben Jordan is gonna get his education paid for, and maybe make a living hurling the little white rock. He's a stud on the mound.

Coach Hinson was`nt the one that got T`d up it was another on bench, Coach Hinson has been and is very sick that is why he sat and coached all night.FYI

That's what I was told.

Dollar General 3??? I was hoping for a more "Old-School" landmark, say Carota's. lol

Thanks for the correction! :thumb:

I was sitting on the other of the floor & when the ref called the T, Hinson immediately stood up & protested. I just assumed it was him.

Talked to him before the game & he looked awful. I knew he'd been sick, but he said he felt worse yesterday. Hope he gets to feeling better.
