We lost this thing at the line but this was undoubtedly the absolute "worst" officiated game I have witnessed in a long, long, time. It's time for Kirk Hudson to head off to the Happy Valley home for formerly decent referees.

Fantastic win for Dixie. They played the whole game without their best player and all of the 2nd half (and part of the 1st) without another key starter in Nick Niehaus (who dislocated or broke his finger). Throw in the goofy foul differential against Dixie and the fact that this scrappy Augusta played toe-to-toe with Cooper the night before and that makes for a truly gutty performance. Well done boys

they should not have gone to the stripe that much, but karma kicked in to even things out

I didn't have a problem with the foul discrepancy. Dixie plays good team defense, but they are aggressive too.

I thought Dixie really moved the ball well. Sometimes teams with a stud player can get complacent and not really get everyone involved. Without Hatton Dixie did the opposite and really kept the ball moving. I would still want a healthy Hatton on my team and hope for a quick recovery for him. Congrats to Dixie on the win.

Agree on Dixie's offense. They ran their stuff really well; just didn't always translate into points. Was hoping to get a chance to see Hatton for a second time. Wish the kid a speedy & full recovery. :thumb:

 

Also agree on Bach. When he hit the first bomb (and it was a bomb), Papa & I just looked at each other in disbelief. He said he thought one of his feet was in the halfcourt circle. Estimated 38-footer. Came down not long after & hit about a 27 footer.

Can you inform us of who the officials are?

 

Kirk Hudson was one of them. One of them I've seen a lot (and he's awful). Shorter official & I believe he called the Augusta/Bracken game a couple of weeks ago. The other I've never seen before. He stunk too.

Got there real early in the second half. Bach's a player, unlimited range but can also take you off the dribble. A couple of really tough fouls on him down the stretch and this game may have had a different outcome. Dixie hit their charity tosses and Augusta didn't.

 

Nice to catch up with RP once again. Possibly the most basketball-savvy seven year-old in the greater Brooksville metropolitan area. And sitting with the old A-Town ball coach is worth the price of admission all by itself.
