December 10, 201213 yr I have a question for those supporting Te'o. Would he or should he have won over Tebow or Newton if he had this season during their Heisman seasons? Not over Newton based on the Alabama comeback among other huge games. Tebow, maybe. Florida had a couple of losses that year. What hurt Te'o more than anything is the fact that his game isn't reflected in stats, even though 7 Int's in 12 games as a MLB is incredible. He isn't an edge rusher who racked up huge TFL and sack numbers. You have to watch every game, play-by-play to appreciate his anticipation and how well he gets off of blocks. You can look at Manziel's #s and not need to know anything else. When an award is being voted on by people from across the country, that's what they'll go with. There is safety in numbers.

It shows nothing either way about him that he did, the fact that you would even insinuate anyone that did the opposite would be wrong is disgusting. Also, what about someone who was an average back up for 2 or 3 years then has a hot year on a good team and wins the Heisman, how is that different than a Freshman winning? The fact that Notre Dame is getting away with a Penn State coverup also levels it even further that no one involved with Notre Dame or Brian Kelly deserves a thing right now. What does this mean?
December 10, 201213 yr I agree. I don't think a defensive only player can win. Te'o arguably had a better year last year and wasn't even mentioned. Being on an undefeated team was obviously a big factor. What would it take for a defensive player to win? What stats would win votes? They can if they are an Ed Reed type. You need highlights and huge stats. I see a safety or corner, (like the honey badger minus the punt returns.) I don't ever see a DL winning, especially inerior. If Suh couldn't win, I don't know who can. He single handly destroyed Texas. That should have been a signature game. 5 sack from the NT position against a good Texas team should be like throwing for 400 and 4 TDs in South Bend like Palmer did.

I believe the season Tebow won the Heisman Florida lost 4 games and was not in the SEC Championship game. He made it to the SEC title game his Freshman, Junior, and Senior seasons. None of which he won the Heisman.

They've actually filed suit on it, and I think they and you are right. You shouldn't do that but they do. Now if he was a player that helped to try and silence a victim then he deserves the punishment, but that's the only way.
December 10, 201213 yr In reality this Heisman class across the board was terrible. Regardless of what the numbers say. Te'o needed another big moment against USC and a few more tackles to win the award. Very deserving of the invite.
