Lady Pioneers did not play very well. Lots of missed shots. Sandlin got into foul trouble and sat a large portion of the 2nd quarter. SK won this one with defense.

The key to the game IMHO was the 2nd and third shot attempts SK was able to get in the first half. I have not seen statistics but that was definitely how it felt watching it.

Sandlin picked up her 2nd foul at the 4 minute mark in the 1st quarter. She sat out the remaining 12 minutes of the half. This lead to SK getting numerous 2nd chance points. Walton shot poorly from the field and the charity stripe (6-13). They struggled against the press and having Sandlin on the bench really hurt. I didn't think either team played well but SK did what they needed to do to win. I look forward to their next match-up.

Not only was Sandlin on the bench in foul trouble early, also was Mullikin. I think she went out early in the second quarter. Having your point guard and your leading scorer on the bench for much or most of the first half is tough and even so, Walton was still in a position to win in the end. Defensive rebounding, free throws and a couple of late game bad possessions done the Lady Cats in.

Seems like both teams , but especially SK, could have benefitted from a few more non-district games front loaded in the schedule. Is there a reason why we are playing district games in December?

WV. Has played Campbell, Boone, south Oldham, and Owen. All quality opponents, all non District. As to why they played this one early I think it might be a hold over from years gone by when they opened the season against each other. Pre realignment and re districting.

This year's South Oldham team is nowhere near being a quality opponent.
