SK started to have the freshmen practice with varsity this year and it has paid big dividends. The Freshmen learn the system quickly, can be easily plugged in to JV and even Varsity games, and there are more bodies to work with in practice. SK has transitioned to up-tempo game from the half court game they used to play.

 

I think that's a great thing too. When the freshman have a chance to compete against bigger, stronger and faster girls in practice everyday, it makes the freshman game slow down for them and gives them more confidence in their arena.

I love that freshman scores are posted here as well. Why should the JV and varsity get all the glory?! Looking forward to seeing Brossart's freshman girls in action soon. I'll be sure to report the final here when I do!

Sk Team looked very good with some very nice players. Even If BBHS brought all their Freshmen it would have been a very good game. With the girls that are playing freshmen including (4) 8th graders for BBHS they were out matched. The girls they did have played very hard and will do well against teams of simular size.

Not disputing it would be a good game, but I can tell you the 3 ladies they are talking about are close to 6 ft, AAU proven at a high level and can handle the ball/press very well. With then assisting (throwing over the press) and their ability to score in the half court because of their size, the 3 ladies would have made a huge difference, no matter who was on the floor! And I'm not even a Brossart fan!!! And I've coached several of the SK girls you're talking about! We will never see it, so no sense discussing, but they were missing a HUGE part of that class.

Saturdays freshmen game between district rivals SK and WV should be a good one. WV has not played any Freshman games as of yet but their JV team is mostly freshmen. If WV plays all their freshmen in the freshmen game it could be close.

You're right! I think even one of their freshman is contributing on the varsity level, if i'm not mistaken. There's a lot of good young talent coming up at all schools! HHS has two Freshman varsity starters. Conner and Ryle have some nice ones too!

They have some very good freshman and 8th graders! Who said they have to compete with them, just train and practice with them. JV is in the gym too!

Don't quote me on this...I am not for sure. I heard last night from a parent of an SK player that the SK vs Walton freshmen game will be canceled. Again, it is second hand, but it was a pretty reliable source. We shall see. If so,the JV match up should be just as good with both schools playing their freshmen on the JV. As you stated, Walton's JV is basicly their freshmen team plus one sophomore and one junior.

FYI, freshman game between WV and SK was cancelled by WV due to commitments of some of their 8th graders. At least, that is my understanding.

This is correct. The WV 8th graders are playing in a one day 8th region middle school all a tournament on Saturday and will not be available for the freshmen game that afternoon against sk. Without the 8th graders Walton would only have 5 or 6 freshmen and those same freshmen also play JV.

I don't believe sk plays their freshmen on jv. Some play freshmen and varsity, but not jv. Or so I've been told
