February 3, 200620 yr :sssh: Gosh darn DD you figured us out. We have long had a pipeline into the Boone Cty District and were hoping nobody would catch on..In reality most of these kids are of Ludlow School employees and some are kids who have attended Ludlow while living here and chose to continue at Ludlow even after their families moved to Boone Cty.. How many of these students are athletes I wonder.
February 3, 200620 yr Author What does it matter if they make a difference in sports or not? Ludlow has a recent history of being a good academic school district, maybe that is one reason for choosing to attend there. Should the ones who move out of district but stay enrolled be permitted to participate in extra-curricular activities? Of course. My whole point is,is when public schools stop taking out of district students then they can start complaining about students who choose private school over there local school.
February 3, 200620 yr And why does being a teacher/employee give them a right to choose what school they get to send their kid to, when the KHSAA wants to restrict others who aren't teachers/employees, and as a tax payer in Boone why do I have to pay for a kid to go to Ludlow? Oh yea that’s right, the big and powerful union (KEA)...who really run the Commonwealth of Kentucky Public Schools. Isn't Ludlow really a private school, call it independent if you most, but I think the word private works just as well? What I mean is, parents have to pay tuition in the form of additional taxes to have their school, you can attend if you live outside of the City, but you have to pay Tuition, they don't have to take anyone from outside of their area, parents want to keep their School, as they like being in charge of their own school system. What's the difference other than religion from NDA/CovCath?

February 7, 200620 yr Good luck Panther8404 with this fight but I think you will find that when it comes to the whole public/private debate that you will end up beating your head against the wall on this issue. There are several on here, Theoldguy being one, that are staunch Private School supporters who regardless of what you say or try to point out to them they will bend it, shape it and twist it to work to their way of thinking. They are all good guys and gals but they have no desire to see any changes made to the current system. It works to well for them and they refuse to accept that some changes need to be made..I'll let you fight the good fight though..your younger and brighter...plus when they gang up on you it tends to wear this old Ludlow guy down.

BZ, with all due respect, your post is hogwash. It's indicative of the very same pig-headedness on the part of the public school's position as you accuse the private school supporters of being. :irked: We are absolutely open to compromise, but not to capitulation. Compromises are a two way street, and there is a point at which no further compromise, or a particular compromise is unacceptable. Change needs to occur, we agree. Where we disagree is that all of the major change must impact the private schools, with none-to-little affecting the public schools.

What's the difference other than religion from NDA/CovCath? Off top of my head....the court system will MAKE THEM take students who don't want to be in school. The inability to get rid of troubled students because they don't want to deal with them anymore like the freedom that private schools have. KIRIS, KERA and state funding State guidelines and requirements they have to follow concerning PD training, school requirements that are a politicians whim that get in the way of the teacher's teaching. Any others feel free to join in.

With all due respect everyone knows exactly where you stand on this issue and the school you support.Your side has offered up nothing, just complained about every proposal that comes up and looked for ways to circumvent it. As I've stated b4 it's not worth the effort. See what I said Panther8404.. Let the attacks begin. :ylsuper:

Our side HAS offered the feeder school designation, we've offered a 1 year ban on varsity play for non-feeder transfers. We've already complied to restrictions on financial aid, and we've been playing under the rules of the KHSAA as set forth.
February 7, 200620 yr The 1-year ban on varsity play for non-feeder transfers does nothing. Most freshmen are not playing varsity ball their freshmen year. It is a hollow offer. And any ban should go both ways with waivers for actual changes of residence or a hardship waiver of financial distress.

That's all for me rock. It's not worth the effort and you will insist on the having the last word so by all means have at it.. :walk:

No one wants to go to court. I'm not asking for the last word. I'm asking for dialogue that encourages an understanding of the issues and what's at stake for each side.
