Egypt in chaos again

Featured Replies

The freely elected New Democratic elected Morsi has now proclaimed himself above any rule or law and it seems the Egyptian people are no longer fooled by the Muslim Brotherhood grab of power like some Americans and BGPers were. Of course I have always warned of this and it seems like it is happening.

Some in the Brotherhood is also ticked at this move. If he is a mainly sane person this could be good, a lot of the Brotherhood was ticked how he helped in the Israel/Gaza conflict. But I can see why the people are concerned. Basically now if Israel strikes Iran, Iran can't count on the Palestinians in Gaza to strike Israel as Egypt are backing the agreement. The Palestinians look up to Morsi.

It is a concern in Egypt, one of my basketball players from Romania is there as his dad was transferred there and he is worried now. I told him to get the heck out before next weekends protests, as there are two very large protest from opposite sides scheduled to protest.

Democracy at its finest.

Ref, what do you see happening next weekend?

I'm not sure, but like you said, it won't be good.

This may be the opportunity for the military to take back control, they have no love for what happened with the brotherhood and we could have another civil war or an assassination. Which would allow for the military to seize temporary power.

I agree, and all but a few of the models don't point to any calm anytime soon.

Also, Arafat was poisoned, they will soon find that out, and all heck will break lose then.

Might have been the Israeli Mossad, they are like the CIA or NSA. The Mossad are the best in the world at getting information and assassinations.

It wasn't the Mossad. The agency that did it was the Shabak, I knew my spelling of it last night was off.

If the Mossad is to what we know as the FBI or the Brits' MI6, then should we liken the Shabak to our NSA? Honestly, I've never heard of the organization, and while I don't claim to be an expert on Israeli internal affairs, I'm generally observant of what goes on beyond our borders a whole lot more than your average American.

Mossad is not like the FBI, more like CIA.

Israel has 3 main Intelligence agencies -

Shabak(Shin Bet) - Internal Intelligence/Security

Aman - Military Intelligence

Mossad - Foreign Intelligence

You can see similarities of FBI/CIA/NSA but they operate with totally different guidelines.

What I meant about Morsi taking total control as a possible good thing is that the people in the old regime are trying to undermine his power, so until he can root them out until there is a new parliament having one person "may" be a good thing, if he does it correctly. But of course Egyptians just see another dictator.

I don't trust a Morsi government one bit, so I'm not exactly opposed to some of the old guard still being around to combat his moves. Neither group having control is ideal, so I'm perfectly fine with neither being able to grab full control.

The brotherhood wants this total control so they can incorporate Sharia Law. Egypt will soon turn into Iran.

The brotherhood plays the game good, looks like they want peace, democracy, fairness, but in reality it is all for show. They are now beginning to show a few of their true colors.
