I love this movie. The more I hear about the process of making it is fascinating. Thomas Edison invented sound recordings in 1877, a decade after Lincoln’s presidency. This created a unique challenge for Ben Burtt, the Sound Designer on Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. One of the most fascinating sound details is the ticking of Lincoln’s pocket watch. Burtt and his team convinced the Kentucky Historical Society, where the watch now resides, to wind it up and see if it worked.

“They were very excited that they could hear the watch ticking. It probably hadn’t been wound up for a century, or a century and a half, who knows? This is the watch that allegedly was in his pocket when he went to Ford’s Theatre and was assassinated.”

I went and watched this last night. I thought the movie was good and Daniel Day-Lewis was AMAZING.

Crazy how good he was.

I'm a big fan of his work. He blew his other performances, which I loved, out of the water with this one.

While the movie is outstanding, the book or in my case the Audiobook is even better! Now you have to be a history nut to love it but the details that the writer gives you are wonderful and gives one a great insight of what Lincoln was up against.

Pity today we don't have more men like those gentlemen in the Team of Rivals!

Thanks for the insight about the book...that is what I'm getting for Christmas.

Understand the Audio Book Unabridged version is 41 hours long, but IMHO well worth the time! On the other hand, the movie is pretty much the abridged version of the book IMO, as it goes no where near the deatil that my unabridged book version does!

The Unabridged version goes into great detail and indeed I mean great detail of all the gentlemen of his cabinet starting in those gentlemen young lives and tells you why and how they became who they were along with their wives and children.
