Looked at a sample ballot today...

There are quite a few races where only one candidate is running. I get to vote for Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors, none of whom I've heard of, nor know what they would do. I noticed some sort of Constitutional ammendment questiion about hunting and fishing. Shouldn't take me too long to vote. :D

Also interesting is that there is an Independent Candidate on the ballot, and as a registered Independent, I'm peeved they never sent me any campaign materials. There's also a candidate from the Decendants of American Slaves party. Never heard of them.

There's a candidate for president on the New Jersey ballot from the "NSA did 911" party.

Makes me wish I would have ran. I may write myself in. I'd love to hear the Ky results and hear "and one write in vote for PP92"

I never vote for candidates that run unopposed. Also don't vote for candidates who run for offices that shouldn't be elective offices (such as Coroner). That does narrow things down quite a bit.

It is your duty to inform yourself of the candidates or issues on the ballot. It's sad when I hear people who have had people die for their freedom to vote, not know what they will be voting for. Or worse not even voting at all.

If you are referring to me, I DO try very hard to be informed. However, until today I had never heard of either the Independent candidate nor the candidate from the Descendants of American Slaves. I can only assume you have?

As to the soil and water race, there's nothing about any of the candidates any where I can find. I know all others on the ballot.

They way I look at it, voting is the very least I can do to honor those brave souls who gave their lives for this country.

Rock you at least checked It out a few days prior. Most don't. No issues with your comments. No way of knowing who some candidates are. The hunting and fishing amendment is rather interesting. You should look into that issue before deciding.

Can you explain it to me? I thought hunting was already a right in Kentucky. In general, I have no issues with most hunting.

“The citizens of Kentucky have the personal right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife, using traditional methods, subject only to statutes enacted by the Legislature, and to administrative regulations adopted by the designated state agency to promote wildlife conservation and management and to preserve the future of hunting and fishing. Public hunting and fishing shall be a preferred means of managing and controlling wildlife. This section shall not be construed to modify any provision of law relating to trespass, property rights, or the regulation of commercial activities.”

It's a gag to get NRA-types out to the polls. Nothing more. Nobody's right to hunt and fish is being trampled upon, unless you count nagging wives/girlfriends.

Ok...but I don' t understand what is different. When I read it I thought that it was the same thing already in place. Is this something to just make sure it's in the Constitution?

How weird. So we are voting in something already a right? Yet we can't get a ballot that includes changing the Constitution to allow a vote on gaming?

Yes they want it in the constitution in case any thing would ever happen where someone would try to take away hunters rights. it would have to go before a vote of the people.
