October 3, 201213 yr Author So Homer's dead arm just went away with no rest? Not likely... You simply pitch thru it. That's how pitchers deal with it. I'm not saying that's for sure what was wrong with Cueto or Bailey, but just about every pitcher goes thru it. Either way I think it's stupid to bring Cueto or Arroyo back on 3 days rest.

October 3, 201213 yr Author Why didn't Chapman pitch through it? Who said Chapman had dead arm? You seem to be skeptical of dead arm. Check out this article. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090820&content_id=6526748&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb&fext=.jsp

October 3, 201213 yr Author You do t remember when Chapman missed like a week and a half in September? I sure do. You sure read that article awfully fast.
October 3, 201213 yr I sure do. You sure read that article awfully fast. So why did Homer pitch through it but Chapman got shut down?
October 3, 201213 yr Author So why did Homer pitch through it but Chapman get shut down? Chapman was actually diagnosed with shoulder fatigue. He had a drop in velocity. Like the article I provided you states a dead arm doesn't necessarily mean you have a drop in velocity. You never saw a drop in velocity with Cueto or Bailey. I believe what Chapman had was totally different than dead arm.

I believe what Chapman had was totally different than dead arm. We'll agree to disagree. Shoulder fatigue and dead arm are the same thing, IMO. If the Reds had any reason to believe Homer or Cueto had any issues at all they would have skipped a start or two.

Noted.
October 3, 201213 yr So all the pitchers quoted in the link I provided are wrong, and you're right? Noted. I must have missed the part where they all said in the article that dead arm and shoulder fatigue are two different things...
October 3, 201213 yr Author I must have missed the part where they all said in the article that dead arm and shoulder fatigue are two different things... I must have missed the part where they even mentioned shoulder fatigue. By most accounts, dead arm is an overall feeling of general, non-specific fatigue Shoulder? Anyone see shoulder? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
October 3, 201213 yr I must have missed the part where they even mentioned shoulder fatigue. By most accounts, dead arm is an overall feeling of general, non-specific fatigue Shoulder? Anyone see shoulder? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? You just made my point. They don't mention shoulder fatigue in the article. So obviously no one says shoulder fatigue and dead arm are the same or different. I said in my opinion they are the same thing. I'm just as entitled to an opinion as you or anyone else quoted in the article. If they define dead arm as non specific fatigue, then I must have dead arm 5 days out of the week.
October 3, 201213 yr I would flip flop Cueto and Latos, but besides that I think it was a good decision. You have your two best in the first three games in Cueto and Latos, and a veteran who has been there before and pitched very well this year in Arroyo. If he had decided to have Homer in game two though I would have been fine with that too.

If they define dead arm as non specific fatigue, then I must have dead arm 5 days out of the week. They don't mention torn elbow ligament either. I guess your opinion is that it is the same as dead arm also. First you scoffed at the possibility that Cueto and Bailey could have had tired arms. I showed you that pitchers do get dead arms. You then balked at the idea that Bailey could have got thru a dead arm without rest. I then showed you that pitchers say you just have to pitch thru it. You still don't buy it because you're entitled to your opinion.
October 3, 201213 yr He's pitching game 3. That was my question. What did he have to do to go game 1 or 2? If they're going 3 man which looks like a possibility why would Arroyo go twice and not Latos?
