That was no Hauck offense. Our QB did not run the ball. No disrespect to the QB at Ryle but he misses open receivers often.

 

That was because they was covered like a blanket!

 

It seemed like too many times he was just inches too high or a half foot too low and often times on the run. I will say with just having watched the QB once it's hard to tell. I would say offensive play calling may have hurt him, defensive calling/coaching/coverage may have hurt him, route running may have been part of the issue(I dunno), lastly could be QB coaching about how to throw on the run. With that said I think Ryle's QB could be pretty good on the field I just think he'd serve the team better if they could find a player to play even almost as good as him at QB and let him play another positiong. To be honest the kid can move well but he didn't look sharp at all at QB. Again just my opinion and it could've been any one of those factors I mentioned above.

I hope Ryle's running back I think it was #24 is ok he twisted his knee pretty good in the first half and played in the second half. It looked painful when he hurt it though. One tough kid.

SK's O did only score 13 or 12 depending on how you want to look at it. Any how, not trying to talk up SK because UKfan does that enough for everyone but SK honestly left a lot of points on the board. Game could've just as easily been 42-7 or so. I say 7 because a lot of the game was field position, if SK scored a one or two more times they might not have given Ryle such horrible field position like they did when SK didn't score. SK made it in to the redzone 3 times and came away with nothing. Ryle on the other hand only crossed the 50 yard line 2 times I believe, only time I recall for certain is the end of the game with about 30 seconds left but I think they did the same in the first half with about 30 seconds left as well. May have done it 1 other time in the first but I don't recall. I am looking forward to seeing SK's offensive #'s, if I had to guess(wasn't paying attention I would say they had a few hundred yards of offense, doesn't sound like a lot but it points to control of the game when it's a 20-0 ball game.

I looked it up he threw for 926 yards last year.

One of the highlights of my night was walking into the game. The homecoming parade was going on and some Ryle kids tried to hand my son candy and he said no thanks! My boy is a true Pioneer fan!

Ryle's offense is simply not good right now. If you put that little emphasis and work on a passing game, there is nothing there to draw on during times when you really need it. Certainly if you're blessed with a stud running back, which Ryle is currently not, you lean heavily on the run game. That makes sense. But Ryle simply doesn't have the type of running game that they can announce to the other team they intend to run the ball 90% of the time (or more) and get away with it. Beyond that, I guess I'm not sure why you would do so anyways if your intent is to go downstate and win a championship. I think it's been pretty well-established that you are not going to knock off either of the Louisville powers with a one-dimensional attack, be it running or passing. There simply needs to be some type of balance. I have to believe there are sufficient athletes at a school of 1600 students (Ryle) to have some type of meaningful passing game. Hard to say if they don't have the right people at certain skill positions or it's a problem with the overall schemes - maybe both - but they need to diversify and make an effort to establish some type of passing offense to help out what appears to be just an average running offense.

 

That Owen Hauck lineage runs deep for sure. Ryle has been blessed with some great runners and they've had some very good running QBs but I just don't understand why they don't integrate more passing into their offense. Hempel and Elliott were a great duo but even then they passed just to keep you honest but they just don't have that type of backfield this season.

Our offense wasn't anything to admire tonight. We weren't nearly as aggressive but that may have been the gameplan once we got the two score lead. This team's defense is still ahead of the offense but I think they have the best offense in the district. I think this bodes well in an offensively weak district.

 

I'm interested to see how they attack Tyler Durham next week. Campbell coming off a bye should be quite a test.

Seems like we wanted to control the clock after we got the lead and it worked, Ryle reallly never threatened to score but Davis did bust the 80yd TD which was called back after a holding penalty.

Agreed, agreed, and I saw some Campbell County folks tonight did they have a bye?

 

I said the same about the offense, it was not very dynamic early on and missed some play calls later.

 

Officiating wasn't bad to be honest, though I didn't understand Ryle picking up a first when they went for it in the second halfon 4th down and lost yards, perhaps I had a bad vantage point.

Yardage may have been that low, I dunno like you said Ryle scoring was only a threat once until they did at which point it got called back.
