An Honor For Grady and Ray Brown

Featured Replies

Newport is giving the late Ray Brown and brother Grady Brown a great honor by naming the Newport Baseball Field in their honor. Ray and Grady severed as baseball coaches at Newport for almost 40 years and during that time contributed greatly to the student athletes of not only Newport High School but touched the lives of countless others behind the scenes at other schools as well. Both are members of the NKADA Hall of Fame. Unlike the almost 40 years that passed before Stan Arnzen was recognized the city is doing well by bestowing this great honor on two outstanding men. As a great American president once said "It is altogether fitting and proper that we do this!"

A great honor for both guys. Both are well respected in the area by coaches and players alike. If they were to add a plaque with all the positive things that each were responsible for during their coahcing tenure, it would fill the entire park. The park could not hold it, to large!

Remember my soph. year at Newcath, my glove was in dire need of repair. Took it down to Grady and he worked his magic, not only was it re-stitched but he also oiled it down. Congrats to both, class acts all the way.

Both are great guys. The honor is well deserved.

Two great guys deserving of the honor for all the work they did.

Congrats to 2 spectacular guys!!!

Awesome honor for two guys who dedicated their lives to Newport High School and made it a better place for their being a part of it!

An outstanding way to honor 2 men that are very well deserving.
