District play starts for Knights and the Titans.

 

Last year the Knights got the better of the Titans in the regular season and in the playoffs. And expectations are still very high for the Knights this season. So this may appear to be any easy pick.

 

But consider these points:

 

- Mercer County running back James Johnson has more yards rushing the the entire Knights team (446 vs. 439 after 3 games).

- The Knights have allowed 649 yards rushing. The Titans only 442.

- The Knights has only 4 intercepts. The Titans defense has 7.

- The Knights have allowed 829 passing yards. The Titans have allowed only 531 passing yards.

 

So whats your prediction?

I love Mercer but I expect LexCath to win this game. I will say this. Mercer will come into this game believing they can win. LexCath better put them away early and not let Mercer hang around. They'll get more confident as the game goes on. James Johnson is the real deal when on the field. He gets nicked up easily and is prone to miss some plays each game. Mercer went toe to toe with

Madison Central and I'm certain they know how Madison Central hung in there for 3 quarters against LexCath. Could be interesting but LexCath shouldn't have any problems. They better take Mercer seriously.

The Knights need to get the offense in gear early. It has struggled to find its stride early.

 

Defense is back to full strength with seniors Alex Nash and Bill Jacoby back in the line-up after injuries against Ensworth.

 

A high scoring affair likely goes to the Knights. A low scoring game may get interesting.
