What's your problem? Wasn't Trinity up 51-0 on Highlands at the half? Didn't the JV come in after that? And now it's a problem when SC does the same? At least we let them score. 57-7=50. 51-0=51. Looks like Trinity is just as deserving. There are a ton of great Trinity posters on here. Don't be the blacksheep.

 

I told myself I wasn't going to post on this thread... but I couldn't help myself... :-)

 

First, no one "let" Creek score a touchdown. It was a 25 yard strike down the middle of the field that was taken another 55 yards for an 80 yard TD pass... Second, they moved the ball effectively against Scott Counties secondary. The ref's called a fumble in the End Zone on a one yard QB sneak (how you fumble in the end zone is beyond me? He was already in, and it was already a touchdown). There was also a TD taken away from Creek on a 10 yard QB scramble on 4th down. QB was actually up ended, but it looked like he had the ball over the pylon when he was hit out of bounds, they placed it on the one inch line (pretty keen eye sight for that ref). However, NONE of this changes the out come of the game! It just makes Creek look a little less sad. 243 yards of passing offense in the first half for Creek against the #4 ranked team in 6A ball isn't to shabby. 3 Turnovers on their first 3 possessions didn't help Creek out, because there was no stopping the Cardinals offense. This is no different than the Harlan County game, only Creek didn't have the turnovers and did a better job finishing off drives...

 

Tates Creek has a lot of talent. I'd say there will be some serious evaluation of the defense this week. I'd even bet some kids will be moved around in their respective positions to make this team more competitive defensively... I'd also say there will be a lot of tackling drills being run this week...

 

Creek is 10 times better than they were last year, and has something to build on to finish up the second half of the season heading into the playoffs.

 

FYI: Scott County is the real deal... I expect Creek to be much more competitive moving forward having played a team of this caliber. The "2A Championship" Comment.... Hilarious!!!

I apologize for the way that sounded. I didn't mean to disrespect or create any ill will with Tates Creek players or fans. I see how it sounds and it was not my intent to sound so disrespectful. It's good to see Tates Creek on a path of good football. I hope you guys continue to get better.

Creek is 2-3 right now just like they were in 2011. Statistically they are much worse defensively this year and only moderately better offensively.

After seeing this score, I feel much better trying to hush all the Highlands nay-Sayers! I expected a much better game from SC too. What does this say about Takes Creek? A program that was very good when I played. They even sponsored and held the Thoroughbred Bowl where we beat Billy Jack and the Tornado the first time on the way to beating them at state. Sorry to hear this about TC.

How is the offense only "moderately improved"? Last year, through 5 games the offense piled up 65 points, compared to this years 141 points (that's an increase in production of more than 115%). Through 5 games last year, they piled up 266 yards passing, compared to 1383 yards through 5 games this year. The running game has suffered some due to the production of the passing game, 950 yards last year compared to 450 this year. However, the overall total offensive yards through 5 games is up from 1180 total yards last year to 1833 yards this year (that's an increase in offensive production of over 55%)...

 

I guess you'll have to define "moderately improved" to me, because that looks like leaps and bounds improvement... I'd also like to point out that the bulk of the receiving unit are Juniors, receiving passes from a Sophomore quarterback (that's ranked #1 in 6A, and #4 overall in the state of KY)...

 

No argument here, defense needs work and lots of it... but you can't take away what this offensive unit has managed to put together in just one year.

I would have been disappointed if you hadn't posted. I am keeping up with TC and like all the inpupt and details of your posts. I know it is hard to post after a loss, but that is when the kids need our support the most.

To aid in the scoring column for Scott County this week. Starting Corners Dennis Oxendine, RJ Taylor were held out on defense. Oxendine played only a few snaps. And the starting MLB Eamon Nasr who has been out for 3 games due to concussion also sat. 3 of their top players were sat on D. Had no bearing on the win or loss, but definitely on the score and the 3 passes for 177 yards and 2 TDs.

County is the real deal and a very good program. They will be right there In the thick of things in the 6A state finals.......I will be hard pressed to see anyone stopping there run until Trinity.

 

On another note. Tates Creek is much improved on offense. They have the top QB statistically of the teams reporting in 6a, and 3 of the top 10 receivers in 6A.....They have Dennis Oxendine at RB (Preseason All State). So offensively, there really isn't an issue as they move the ball on every team they play, win or lose. Turnovers have killed them In some games, but they are a young group and growing pains are expected.

 

Creek has run into a tough patch in the schedule. Folks being critical, do this for me, They just played Harlan County, Scott County, and Henry Clay in 3 out of the last 4 games. How would most teams fair against that schedule??? So we took some lumps, and now back to ThE city and district play where Creek can do some damage. Every game they play from here on out is winnable for them.....

I can relate to this schedule. We have played HC, play Scott Co tonight and Harlan Co next week. How did/will we fair? Blowouts in all of them IMO. Who is left on your schedule? Do you play Bryan Station?
