Flash Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Close at times but Wolfe led most of the wy. Gilbert had a lot of points.
mountainwarrior Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Breathitt is not a bad team. They have lost alot of clsoe games and in that they are gaining valuable experience. Breathitt impressed me, they played hard and shot the ball extremely well. It was a good game to watch. Congrats to the Wolves
LeeCoBobcatFan Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Wow yet another wrong prediction.Guess I'm going to have to throw out that crystal ball. Anyway Congratulations Wolfe County
RoundLeather Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Listened to part of the game on the radio. Someone told me that Wolfe had another new player besides the Stamper kid. Anyone know?

He's apparently awaiting eligibility. They told me his name but I don't recall. Stamper helps that team and they say the other kid will also. He was on the bench but not dressed to play.
LeeCoBobcatFan Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Are you perhaps talking of Landers Crowe? I believe he played for Powell county last year and had to move out of state and has just recently moved back. Not sure of the situation but I believe he is currently trying to join the Wolfe Co. team.

I thought they showed a lack of effort in the first half and seemed to run out of gas early in the game, had a schizoprenic third quarter, and then had what I thought was an excellent 4th quarter. The only time they demonstrated an ability to slow Gilbert down was when they went man2man and put Fugate on him, and that was late in the game. But, it was a fun game to watch and the Wolves earned the win.
LeeCoBobcatFan Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Breathitt must have talent to play the way you describe and still be within four. Are they relatively young?
Flash Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 Breathitt must have talent to play the way you describe and still be within four. Are they relatively young? Sophomores for the most part. They start one senior. I think some of their difficulties stem from a lack of leadership on the floor, but hopefully someone will rise to the occasion. We'll just have to look forward to next year!
LeeCoBobcatFan Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Well perhaps this will be a learning experience and a building year. Have you seen any improvement from the beginning of the year to now? I wish the Breathitt Bobcats good luck and perhaps they'll find their leader sooner than later.

Good luck to you also, Lee is the team to beat in your district and will be there at regional tournament time.
Lightning Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I listened to this game and it sounded like Stamper really helped Wolfe. Seemed like Gilbert and Stamper played good together. The game wasn't as close as the final score. Hollan and Moore couldn't miss from the 3 keeping them close. However, good effort by the Bobcats. They are young, but are getting better everytime out.
mountainwarrior Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Close at times but Wolfe led most of the wy. Gilbert had a lot of points. Gilbert did have 32 points but I was impressed with his game as a whole. I was talking to a Wolfe assisitant after the game and he told me that Gilbert also had 15 boards and 12 assists. A heck of a game. Stamper helped the Wolves out a great deal. He hit 7 threes and opened the lane up. If he continues to do that than the Wolves will be improved greatly because so far teams have just packed the paint on the Wolves and they have struggled to score but with Stamper hitting the 3s team cant put 5 guys in the lane and it will help his younger teammates out, letting them have more one on one scoring oppurtunities. I beleive the Wolves are going to start improving
Leslie Eagles Fan Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Does the Smith boy still play for Breathitt?
RonnieThePopular Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Good job Wolfe. I thought they would win.
