September 7, 201214 yr Perhaps America and History's most effective Vice President brought down the house last night! By PHILIP ELLIOTT, ASSOCIATED PRESS CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Joe Biden stepped forward Thursday as Barack Obama's chief character witness, link to middle class voters and potentially the most biting critic of Republican rival Mitt Romney. Speaking candidly about his front-row seat to Obama's presidency, Biden used his speech to Democrats' convention to paint his friend as a gutsy leader who helped the nation turn the corner on its dour economy. He pointed to the decisions to bail out Detroit's auto industry and to dispatch Navy SEALs into Pakistan for a fatal raid on al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's compound. "Conviction. Resolve. Barack Obama," Biden shouted to delegates watching in the convention hall and millions more watching at home. September 7, 201214 yr Of course we believe in our Commander In Chief. We release our tax returns and don't work for Bain Capital. I have never heard President Obama say "I like to fire people." I can't believe I'm engaging in this but here goes. "I like to fire people." said no one ever. When did Romney say that? You sound like a broken record.
September 7, 201214 yr I can't believe I'm engaging in this but here goes. "I like to fire people." said no one ever. When did Romney say that? You sound like a broken record. That quote from Gov. Romney is in the same category as the "you didn't build that" quote. They are both accurate, but when you listen to the full context, neither is an accurate reflection of what was said. I would go so far as to categorize both as so misleading as to be a lie.
September 7, 201214 yr Author Romney said... "I want individuals to have their own insurance," Romney said. "That means the insurance company will have an incentive to keep you healthy. It also means if you don’t like what they do, you can fire them. I like being able to fire people who provide services to me. You know, if someone doesn’t give me a good service that I need, I want to say I’m going to go get someone else to provide that service to me." September 7, 201214 yr In other words he doesn't want the government controlling who he gets his insurance from. Who does? It was a quote taken out of context so that the other side could run with it. And during election season, no less. What's the world coming to?

What BGH is alluding too is a lie. And it is not in the same category as "you didn't build that". What Obama said is up to interpetation. You can copy and paste the entire speech and it is still open to interpetation. What Romney said isn't. If you want to call switching insurance companies firing them then fine but that is not what BGH said or alluded to. Post the entire text and BGH's garbage falls apart. Romney said... Quoting both statements out of context is literally true. Both are lies about what was meant. Any fair reading of what the President said reveals that he referred to infrastructure. I undertstand that the Romney campaign talking points refuse to admit that, but it doesn't make it any less a lie. I expect to hear more and more lies out of the Romney campaign. After the past two weeks I think it is their only chance to win.

As for as the Romney campaign lying, of course they will. They all do. Obama is no different.

As for as the Romney campaign lying, of course they will. They all do. Obama is no different. It can be debated, just not honestly. And no, there is a quantitative and qualitative difference. Trying to create an equivalency between an oversimplification or a distortion and an outright lie is not intellectually honest. The Romney campaign has made the welfare lie a cornerstone of its campaign.
