Mark Starns named new coach at Fleming County

Featured Replies

A Coach is only as good as his players (has anyone heard of Henderson County?) and Fleming has them, so look for immediate success.

Just a little info for those wanting to know about Starns at Henderson County:

2007-08: 18-8; 6th District champions; lost to University Heights in 2nd Region semifinals

2008-09: 24-6; 6th District champions; lost to Christian County in 2nd Region finals

2009-10: 19-10; 6th District champions; lost to Christian County in 2nd Region finals

2010-11: 20-6; 6th District champions; lost to Christian County in 2nd Region semifinals

2011-12: 18-15; 6th District runner-up; lost to Hopkinsville in 2nd Region semifinals

5 years: 99-45; 4 district titles; 2 region finalists, 3 region semifinalists

It would appear Coach Starns' biggest problem was beating Christian County.

Alot of teams have that problem.

Fleming comes to Mason on January 22, 2013. If you don't think Coach Starns and Fleming will be fired up to beat Mason your not thinking right. This will be Coach Starns first game in the Fieldhouse since he left Mason. Mason has not lost to Fleming since 1999 District Tourney and has a 14 game winning streak.

My point was that the Mason-Fleming rivalry will always be heated no matter who is coaching either team.

Agreed I remeber those days between these 2 teams, also the games against the Maysville Bulldogs. Great Rivalries back in the day.
