August 14, 201214 yr A couple somewhat bold predictions to the rest of the MLB season..... 1) The NL Central will place only 1 team in the postseason. 2) Miguel Cabrera will win the AL MVP due to his winning of the Triple Crown. 3) The AL West will place only 1 team in the postseason. 4) Aroldis Chapman will win the NL CY Young Award. Anyone else got any?
August 14, 201214 yr Author NL CY Young - Chapman the Only Choice If you talk to hitters about the pitchers in this Cy Young field, they'll tell you that they admire Dickey. They respect Cueto. They have no fun facing Zimmermann. They have no interest whatsoever in hitting against the other lights-out closer candidate, Craig Kimbrel. But you know what they think about Chapman? I can sum it up in one word: Fear. "A lot of guys nowadays throw 100 [mph]," Skip Schumaker said, "but I've never seen anybody with a fastball like his. "For one thing," he said, looking up at a visitor who was approximately a foot and a half away, "when you face him, it feels like [he is as far away as] me to you. Then he winds up, and he's all herky-jerky. He's big. He's tall. He's throwing elbows and knees at you. And even though you're sitting dead-red fastball, it's just like it's by you, before you can even think about it. I've never seen a fastball explode like that. Ever. It's just ridiculous."

In other words, "We know we don't have a chance. " Just like spindoc and I've been saying all year.
August 14, 201214 yr Author In other words, "We know we don't have a chance. " Just like spindoc and I've been saying all year. Except that's not true. If it were, he wouldn't have blown 4 saves.
August 14, 201214 yr Except that's not true. If it were, he wouldn't have blown 4 saves. That was all on Chapman. They still knew they didn't have a chance.
August 14, 201214 yr How about Chapman for NL MVP? Frazier for NL ROY. Sure hope there are 2 teams out of the NL and AL West, with Dodgers and Angels being Wild Cards
August 14, 201214 yr Votto's knee is not right. He is shut down prior to the playoffs. I'm going to shut you down. :irked:

August 14, 201214 yr I'm going to shut you down. :irked: Not to worry. I picked the Germans to win WWII.

August 14, 201214 yr I don't think Aroldis winning the Cy Young is bold. He's in the top 3 or 4 favorites right now.
