This argument has been on here many times before, so I will stop now. If you like it, watch it. If you don't like change the channel. I wish the KY would have won it all. I know a town that won the state championship and all the kids were from the same high school and yet they never won the district in their 4 years.

My only beef is the kids that get two strikes and start sulking before the next pitch and then cry when they strike out. Drives me nuts.

I know I'm in the minority probably but I could do without the LLWS, doesn't do much for me.

 

Incredibly bitter. Lead off hitter. Batted over .350. NEVER caught stealing. Very rarely struck out. Could hit the curve. Destroyed lefties. Eagle eye. Scored 2 runs a game easy. I was a little league Billy Beane dream come true. My coach called and apologized to me for not making the team. I'll never forget it.

I love the LLWS!!!! Whether you think it is baseball or not, these kids are playing their hearts out!! They have the desire, drive and passion to win.

All these gripes are legit in my opinion. I hate when they show the pitch speed and compare it to the majors. WOAHHHH that kid is virtually throwing 102 MPH. Not buying it. These kids reaction time is not that good.

If you do the comparisons from pop to pop, the mph's are legit compared to the MLB times but in all reality, not many of those kids will develop into major league talents so we should be happy for them that they are helping their team to get to where they are.

 

I can't wait til Thursday when the LLWS starts. You can see the schedule here. The team I'm most excited about seeing is the Middle East-Africa representative from Uganda. After the debacle that saw a different league from Uganda get denied access to the USA last season, I'm glad the officials in that country have things looking like they're cleared up and giving the kids on the team this year the chance to travel and play.

Jr. High and High School coaches love teaching players how to lead off and pitch from the stretch, etc.

 

On the other hand, infielders actually learn how to turn a double play, or get that force out, which never happens in Southwest Ohio/Knothole since every hit or walk turns into a triple (especially in younger age groups). Little League games are typically over quicker because of the stealing/leadoff/dropped third strike rules and are often much easier to watch. I grew up playing Little League, and don't think it harmed my development. There are good and bad points of each style. The biggest issue I have with Little League, is the way the tournaments are set up, and with pitching rules, kids find themselves pitching every other game.

Who are the favs?

I love watching the crazy dad coaches that you can tell this dream team of local legends they have assembled is the crowning achievement of their lives. I also love when there is a kid on the team that is clearly not as good as the other 12 and lo and behold daddy is the head coach. I'm always curious how many dads and kids back in that league are irate watching lil Johnny being overmatched during his 1 at bat per game thinking their lil superstar should have had that spot.

ESPN Classic is showing the USA finals and the championship game that Louisville won a few years back (2003?) today I believe at noon and right after if anyone wants to catch those games again.
