Couldn't disagree more. See Beechwood baseball as example 1. See Ryle softball as example 2. Both teams very successful, and both teams with big time parental trouble. The inmates run the asylum.

I was referring more to the situation where a drunk parent went into the dugout to cuss out the coach because his daughter wasn't in the lineup. If that wasn't enough, after the game he had to be physically restrained from attacking an assistant. I guess that's Ok? Many parents apparently were ok with it. I'd say this qualifies.

No, it's not okay. Thinking it and doing it are two different things! (but not if it's over little Susie's playing time or place in lineup/on the field. If parent has problem with that, tell them to put in for coach's job and have fun!)

 

History said Ryle had parent trouble, just looking for his definition of it.

Where exactly did I blame everything on the parents? Actually I said the school and/or the coaches didnt handle everything the best way all the time. And no I wasn't referencing the situation you mentioned because like I said I wasn't that close to the situation and didn't know all of the facts. I have nothing but great respect for that family. If that happened the school should have step in and removed that parent from attending any more school games and if he didn't agree then they shouldn't let his child play. My guess even though it was wrong not to many parents were upset bc they all felt like doing to the same thing. Regardless that shouldn't happen.

That is sad, really feel bad for the player who had to witness her parent being a "jackball".

Oh no SoftballFan14-I have read your posts, and when I agree with you, your stalker comes out after me too. I don't think all things are placed on the parents. I do think the coach should set the parameters at the beginning of the season and if players or parents object, then they don't have to play.

 

I am not speaking of situations when coaches have misled or lied to players about playing time and whatnot.

 

I think parents (especially of gifted talent) should thoroughly study the program they are going to send their child to. This won't end all of the trouble as coaches leave, etc, but I do think you will see paterns repeated time and time again. Sometimes the folks in the current cannot understand these battles were all fought before.

 

To me parental trouble is obviously what was listed above with regards to a drunken parent entering a dugout. No place for that anywhere in high school athletics. A dangerous seeping negativity from parents can also hurt a team. Let's face it, young men and women still listen to their parents the most, even though they would deny it under oath. So if a parent has an issue with a coach, I think it is wise policy to try to discuss it professionally with the coach. The parent will certainly feel better, and the onus can be passed back to the coach. I, for one, have a hard time believing any coach would intentionally play players in the wrong spot or try to lose a game.

Simply saying that Ryle had issues this year and they seem to be continuing. They had issues in the past too, but seem to come out of it just fine from a wins and losses perspective.

Sorry History, guess I tend to be a little more sensitive after this past season. Anyone that has experience with the stalker surely feels my pain. I agree with everything you've said here. The issues seem to stalk the stalker, but they seem to find a way to pull out the wins which is good for the program.

I count about 15 teams in the area, counting the 9th region as well as the northern half of both the 8th and 10th that either had a new coach this year or will have a new one next year, not a lot of stability for sure. Not sure you could say she ran the program into the ground, her teams won 83 games in her 4 years. Whether it was because of her or the team that was built for her is debatable.

Run the program in the ground were the wrong words for sure. I would say the St Henry girls deserved better. Yes it is debatable but my take would be it had very little to do with her and more with the players. They have had some really nice players there the last 4 years.
