June 25, 201214 yr A hit and run and giving the baserunner the green light is completely different. Sparky Anderson never would let Ken Griffey, or anybody steal when Joe Morgan was at the plate. If you're not going to put on a hit and run with Votto batting, there's no reason to give Stubbs the green light to steal when Votto is at the plate unless you tell Votto what pitch Stubbs is going on so he can let him steal the base straight up.
