If you have three players now you can trade one of them for a 3rd round or later draft pick, but the person giving up the draft pick has to count that player as one of their two keepers.

July 12, 201214 yr Still makes absolutely no sense to trade right now. Say I wanted to trade a pick for a player. I traded my 3rd round pick for player A. I then have to take player A as my second keeper, this losing my 2nd round pick and then I lose my 3rd round pick because of the trade. Doesn't make sense to me.

If you think you can get a player above what will be available in the 2nd round, it is a gamble worth taking. You don't lose a 2nd round pick, you gain a keeper that you value above what will be there in the 2nd. It's certainly risk/reward but far from not making any sense. I guarantee some would have done the deal for Gronk before last year given what they got from their 2nd and 3rd picks. He dominated the TE position and gave me a huge position advantage on the way to the title. I'm sure you could have used him as your team faded into Bloivian... :sssh:

I get the risk can be worth the reward but I just don't know how many players are worth that. Especially with how different each year seems to be.
