My point is that you can't just look at one way of getting out since it's only one part of the total picture. If he strikes out 150 times but puts up 30/100 I'm good with that.

150 Strikeouts means nothing...I might be the only one that has ever heard this comparison and I forget who told me this or where I saw it but the Career of Bruce so far is pretty similar to the HOFer Reggie Jackson...Obviously Reggie Jackson is Jay's Ceiling but it is a good comparison for someone like you that thinks a 150 strikeout per year guy can't be productive...Reggie led the league in K's 5x's and averaged 149 per year based on a 162 game average, Jay so far in his young career has averaged 152 per year based on a 162 game average...Both Reggie and Jay are Right Fielders, Left Handed and 1st Round picks...Jay is still young just 25, he started his Big League career at the tender age of 21...Stop hating on Bruce he is still young, most players are lucky to debut by age 25, he has actually gotten off to a pretty good career and isn't deserving of being hated on quite yet...And don't even say I am trying to compare Bruce with Reggie Jackson and I am in no way saying Bruce will come close to the career of Jackson, not many will and Jay has a long long long way to go, but 150 K's in 1 year means squat...

Is Heisey hurt bad enough to keep him out tomorrow? I think I read somewhere that Stubbs may be ready to go...I was wanting to see what Dusty would do with both healthy, Heisey has been too hot to just put on the bench but Ludwick has probably hit just enough Hrs and driven in just enough runs for Dusty to ignore his low average...

 

Negron will play CF if neither can go he is more than capable Defensively...

Gathright is out of the Louisville lineup tonight...He has been their hottest player and a CF...I dont know if there is anything to it or not...But I guess he could be on his way to NY to replace either Stubbs or Heisey...

On second review Harris has been taken out of the Bats game midway and it wasnt due to injury...Must mean they have evaluated Heisey and its bad enough to DL him :ohbrother:...Or both could be DLd and Harris and Gathright could both come up...Lets hope its just one and its Gathright coming up and not Harris...

In my opinion Bruce is not living up to the hype. I also saw the numbers comparison to other major league players,and I also know there are numbers within those numbers. The numbers don't say how many times he struck out or got out with the bases loaded or in scoring position. The numbers don't say how many times he took perfect pitches and swung at lousy pitches. I know he is still young and he will get better as he matures as a ball player.I have never seen him attempt a bunt to move the runners over, first and second nobody out. I know that's Dustys call, but if they needed a bunt could he do it?

 

Bottom line, right now if the game was on the line, other than Votto, who would you want to see at the plate? I believe this is a fair question, and I hope to get an honest answer.

 

I'm not a Bruce hater, never have been. I'm a Reds fan and would like to see him do well and help the Reds win. I think I'm going to put this thread to bed.
