June 5, 201214 yr With the 14th Overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft the Cincinnati Reds select ...Nick Travieso Nick Travieso-Bats: R, Throws: R-Height: 215, Weight: 6'2" The Florida high schooler was on the move up Draft boards as the spring progressed, thanks to some serious arm strength and the potential for a solid three-pitch mix. Travieso can touch the mid 90s with his fastball, sitting comfortably in the 92-93 mph range, with very good movement in a downward plane. His buries his slider well down in the zone, with good late break to it. His changeup is deceptive at times, though he needs to improve his ability to keep it down in the strike zone. Like with many young pitchers, he’ll need to refine his command at the next level, but he shows pretty solid presence and instincts on the mound while repeating a clean delivery fairly consistently. The fastball-slider duo alone would be enough for him to excel as a reliever, but he has the chance to develop into more than that down the line.

A reach imo but an easy signee...He never thought he would go that high...Travieso was the 32nd best prospect and the #1 ranked HS pitcher in Giolito was still available there...The Reds will regret this in years imo...Giolito had arm problems but it doesn't require surgery, he has been compared to Halladay and he is a big boy at 6'6", 230

He will be one of those picks that will haunt the Reds for many years...They take a HS pitcher but not the best one available when he was still there...This draft is weak and they had a chance to get a top 5 talent at 14 even if he misses a season...The kid models his game after Verlander and throws as hard as Verlander, potentially a scary good prospect...

In a couple years, your Marlins are going to have to face Harper, Rendon, Zimmerman (at his peak), Moore, Morse, Gio, Strasburg, and Gioliot....Does not sound like fun for you guys haha. Then again, i'm a Braves fan so I don't like it either.

June 5, 201214 yr Dahl is an outfielder from Birmingham. Anyone tell me the HOFer outfielder from Birmingham? Lee May is not from the Hall of Fame and he's the 1st player I thought of. Hammerin' Hank isn't from B'Ham, is he?
