Brossart vs Pikeville - Thoughs/Predictions

Featured Replies

Brossart will play in our first-ever KHSAA State Baseball tournament taking on Pikeville (27-7), the champions of the 15th Region at 6pm Monday night at Whitaker Bank Park in Lexington.

Brossart comes in 25-12 with an 11-2 mark in our past 13 games including wins over Campbell County, Scott, Clark County and Harrison County.

Pikeville comes out of the mountains with a 27-7 mark with an identical 11-2 mark in their past 13 outings.

They possess wins over Clark County, Pike County Central, Paintsville, and Johnson Central

Neither team made it to the All "A" State Tournament this year. Brossart won their region but were defeated by eventual "A" State Champs Lexington Christian in the 10th/11th Sectional Playoffs. Pikeville was defeated by Prestonsburg in their "A" regional tournament.

The game will be broadcast live over the internet via the index website starting at 5:45pm or by

Good luck to the Mustangs! on a side note, I found this note on Bmustangs.com website. Pretty pathetic by the KHSAA to charge a small school for a webcast when they have no one doing it!!

KHSAA Broadcast Fee Requirement

We were informed late Sunday that a $275 fee requirement would be imposed in order for us to broadcast tomorrow night's game vs Pikeville.

Even though we are not a radio station with sponsors, we are considered one and the same by the KHSAA.

We inquired as to if a tape delay broadcast would be charged the same and the reply was yes, leaving us only two options, to broadcast the game or to not broadcast the game.

Seeing how we are less than 24 hours out and I'm not in a position to solicit for sponsors nor create advertisement spots at this time, we have chosen to bite the bullet, pay the fee and proceed with the broadcast.

Brossart High School has committed $100 towards the fee, with the remainder underwritten by the Boys Baseball Program.

Anyone wishing to help contribute to offset the cost of the broadcast may do so to Mel Webster. I'm sure Coach Verst would appreciate it.

Good luck to the Mustangs.

Good Luck Mustangs and what a crock that you have to pay a fee to webcast the game.

Nice article on the Hahn boy in the paper on Sunday. I went to school with his parents, great family.

The winner will play St.X they just beat Mercer Co. 4-0 to advance!
