In your posts, why do feel it is necessary to put down other kids? I have noticed that you even say negative things about the kids who play on the same team as your son. I feel you should be happy for the accomplishments of your own son and stop making derogatory remarks about other kids.

Didnt Conner lose to Highlands just a few days ago? I will agree that they have a solid team and Maines is a very good pitcher but do they have what it takes to win the Region? How deep does their pitching go?

 

And Lloyd. But the vast body of their work over the last few weeks has been pretty impressive. As far as their pitching staff, I don't know. But they just put up two TD's and two 2-point conversions on the board against Boone. Hit like that and you don't need a ton of pitching. :lol:

TRP12- what about queen's comment was negative? All the post said was the previous comment, a very sarcastic one I might add, that was made by another poster, was funny.

 

While Nelson was a decent high school pitcher,he in no way jeopardized his draft stock by choosing to leave the team. I feel like queen's posts are intelligent, and honest. At times honesty can hurt some feelings. Especially the feelings of "Little Timmy's" parents who think he's better than he really is.

 

Secondly I don't think you or anyone else is in a place to tell someone how they should feel about their child's accomplishments. Or make assumptions on how they feel about other kids. If your feelings are easily hurt by reading these threads, maybe you should find a different hobby??

Just to set the record straight, I had heard some "talk" of the kid being a possible draftee. That's the reason I mentioned him quitting the team and if that might hurt his draft status. I was in no way being sarcastic or making light of the boy. At the end of the day, I guess we all see talent differently.

TRP - First welcome to BGP. If you are going to reply you should read the posts. I mean really read them. I have never isolated any player or made any derogatory remarks pertianing to a single player. I replied to a remark by Roman that I considered funny due to past comments. I have been a long time Conner supporter through good and bad times. The attitudes of some players are totally out of line and the disrespect towards the coaches is obivious by the players actions and remarks by every outburst of cuss words or throwing helmets and bats. These players do not respect the game or their coaching staff, which I'm sure starts at home.

I don't know who you think I am but my children have graduated from Conner and are now grown men. You know what they say when you ASSUME something to be accurate.

The actions of some of these players are embarassing to watch and I'm sure that most of the players are tired of seeing the same actions on a constant basis. These players should realize that playing high school sports is a priviledge and not a right. Parents should realize that as well. No single player is bigger than the team

Arlo and his staff have done a great job with dealing with these attitudes from players and parents alike. Like Rhino commented, maybe you need a new hobby and retire with your single reply post.

Most of the talent is viewed while wearing Parental Blinders Roman. It's unfair to the kids because they have been told they are the next Chosen One during their entire youth athletic career. Then when reality hits during high school feelings get hurt and the kids quit a sport that they have loved their entire life.

Watched one Conner player (won't mention name) yesterday throw his bat so hard after popping up that it almost hit his on-deck batter. As he was stomping towards the dugout, the guy next to me said "I'll bet we get to see a helmet toss as well." Sure, enough, took off his helmet and flung it in the dugout.

 

That being said, seems to be the exception and not the rule. I have always been extremely impressed with Arlo's demeanor on the field and I'm sure he expects the same from his players.

Coop, you are exactly right. These are exceptions and not the normal for the majority of players, but everyone remembers the exceptions. It seems to be perfectly alright for some of these parents when their children put on these displays. I can tell you this if my son, daughter or grandchild ever disrespected their coaches and teamates in that type of display they would probably not be playing long. Sure everyone loses their temper once in a great while, but all season long. Come on Man.
