mhighfield Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Bracken came in with a game plan to hold the ball as much as possible and stall it and it worked for 3 quaters. In the end though they wore down and Mason prevailed.Should be a little more uptempo and better game friday nite.Congrats Royals on getting it done i know it wasnt the kinda game you wanted to have to play but it happens.

I dont think Bart Rison will try to run with the Royals either.

In games where Bracken Co. is overmatched with height or athleticism, Coach Robert Hammonds always seems to have more of a "stall the ball" type of strategy. It has in fact worked before (BC 31 Brossart 30- First Round 2004 District Tourney), but it didn't tonight. On paper, Mason Co. should easily defeat Montgomery Co. on Friday night, but never count out a Bart Rison ball club.

GRC had a 12 point lead with 1 minute to go...with 45 seconds to go Montgomery had cut the lead to 3... Montgomery Co. plays every second and never give up.

Your correct hes a good coach had a plan tonite and worked it well for the most part.
mcpapa Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Yes, Bracken slowed the tempo for much of the game; I think the quarter scores were 12-7, 23-9, 35-20 and the 49-28 final. What a lot of folks don't realize is that Mason County graduated 7 or 8 guys last year - all of whom were basically guards. The Royals aren't able to run as much as in the last 3 or 4 years - in fact, the guy who always seems to be first down the floor is Mikah Turner, their center. Mason County averages less than 64 points per game this year. They don't run as much and they often have trouble shooting, as was the case last night. Tomorrow's game against Montgomery County should be fairly close.
panther15z30 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Why isn't Chase Crawford playing for Mason? I believe he was unhappy with his role on the team and quit.
kyhoops#23 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 He was in attendance at 5/3 and I was just wondering.
mcpapa Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I saw him watching the first game vs. Pulaski SW; where Mason County basically stunk up the court.
mhighfield Posted January 6, 2006 Author Posted January 6, 2006 I think this can worms should be shutdown before it takes off on Crawford.
panther15z30 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Well the Crawford thing seems a bit shady if you ask me but all I know is that it is unfortunate that he is not playing. Not that this team isn't a possible region contender already, he would undoubtingly put them over the hump at PG.
