I was at a dealer once and he kept asking me "what do I need to do to get you in this car?" I kept telling him to lower the price. He would not so after about 3 times I got up and left.

 

I always do my homework on a car before going to the dealership. I have a set dollar figure in mind--one that includes taxes & title. After talking with them & driving the vehicle, I make my offer & let them know that's the only one they'll receive. They can take it or leave it. Regardless of whether they accept or not, I don't have to go through the constant back-and-forth.

It's my experience that most realtors are not unethical. It's just that many of them simply aren't very professional and are not very smart.

 

I think we are bordering on semantics here. Unprofessional and dumb sounds like the perfect recipe for lowered ethics.

The one time I had to buy a truck off the lot (I normally order them from the factory) it worked for me, they had 2 trucks that I liked, and I need a new one right then and there. Told them I was only gonna pay xxx and said I want this one or that one. The sales guy had to get a manager and he had to make a call (I assume to the dealer owner) but, I drove away with the red one an hour later.

Truck stickered at 51K or around there, had a 3k Factory rebate, I paid 42500 Tax & Title included.

That sounds about the price they would sell the truck to one of their employees for so all things considered sound like a good deal.
