We need a President who is not rich and has had to actually work jobs like a common person and has an ideal of what common people feel and need. We need a person who is in it for the country, not a political party or lobbyist. We need one with good strong morals and convictions.

 

I believe Obama is a great family man who does want to do the right thing, but he too bows to lobbyist and the liberals. But IMO he is out of touch with the real needs and doesn't have a good plan to solve our economic problems.

 

I think everyone goes to Washington with good intentions and that they all get swallowed by the machine eventually.

I got news for you: Every national politician, and most state politicians, are so horribly out of touch with the people and their real needs that you will never be satisfied. They're all bought and sold, and we're just the poor saps unwillingly paying the freight charges, and every other charge you could imagine that regular folks can't afford.

 

The biggest snow job ever pulled -- other than that folksy tale about the devil convincing folks he doesn't exist -- is the one rich people (those well beyond everybody on this board, by a lot) do to the rest of the country in influencing folks to maintain this broken status quo. It's even better at the higher levels, where rich people convince folks who think they're rich to do their bidding. There are a ton of folks in this country who consider themselves to be in outstanding shape financially, who are just a couple more missed paychecks from ruin than those of us living paycheck-to-paycheck, those who probably have allowed themselves to be distracted by a big shell game who are facing a rude awakening, and who will wonder why they supported some of the people they did.

The job of president or any politcal positions requires that you feast on a diet of crap. Everyday, you are eating someone's crap. Whether it be the blacks, women; GLBT; the rich, etc. Even when your pour syrup on the crap, it won't taste like pancakes. You can only make crap so sweet.
