Elmwood 8 Highlands 1 (8 inn)

At the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC

Last game was a real nail biter. Q. Murray pitched great. HHS was leading 1-0 going into the 7th. Elmwood was able to get a runner to 3rd and then squeezed home the tying run. HHS was unable to answer in the bottom of the 7th and ran out of pitching (5th game in 4 days).

Overall, a great experience for the boys. 1 blowout win for HHS, 2 blowouts losses for HHS and 2 losses in the last ABs. Lots of good practice. Good bonding opportunities. Great facilities and organization. Shocked they played their last 2 games with all the rain they received at the facility over 24 hours. It is something the Frosh & JV should look forward to.

So they were 1-4 and how is that something kids should look forward to??

Its a young team ABC2 and even though the win/loss record wasnt 5-0 it was a great experience. There is more to the game and experience then wins and losses.

The birds scored 21 runs in the 5 games 4.2 a game but gave up 41 runs 8.2 a game. Hope all the games gels the birds when it really matters

I get that they are young but again why are they young? My daughters team is young as well but they Are not hiding behind that statement. They are starting 3 8th graders and 3 freshmen on the vr level.

Dont compare Girls Softball to Boys Varsity Baseball.....seriously. Its a whole different animal IMO and many others. Hitting a 75/80mph fastball or 70 mph slider is much different when you are in the 9th grade.

Every NKY high school softball teams plays young players.

CCH will field 9 seniors in some games.

They are so experienced I don't even know the juniors on the team.

So why is it always W/L with you?

Why can't it be a learning experience, a growing experience, or a trip of a life time for a bunch or kids, who I am sure had a ball?

Why does it always have to be about W/L?

Darn it, I just broke a rule that I swore I wouldn't break again and that is to post on a HHS thread but why not just let the kids have fun while learning and playing a game, that most will never play again on any level out of HS. Can't some things in this day and age just be fun!

So they lost some games but I am sure the kids had a ball playing against teams that were from different parts of the Country. They I am sure grew as a team together and it just might make some sixth, seventh or eight graders to continue to play baseball because of the great trip and experience they get to have as a member of the HS team!

TOG - You're exactly right. ABC2 gets it also, whether he admits it or not.

ABC2 is still upset about his son. His agenda is crystal clear.

I'll be the first to admit, I don't get this comment.

Goes back a couple years, conflict with football I am assuming. I dont think it was that big of a stink though from what I know about ABC but could be. I know the Spring Break thing was a big deal.

Win or lose, it sounds like a great way for young Baseball Players to spend Spring Break. Helps develop team chemistry and does give younger players (JV/Frosh) something special to look forward to. Wins and Losses? I say that any day that you get to play baseball is a good day. I've heard that the facilities down there are outstanding and that alone makes the trip special for these boys.

Ok smart guy u don't even know me or my son. And if you did you would know that he has no clue about baseball. If he wanted to play he would have and he would have stayed home from spring break if that's what it took. Why do people always have to bring up the spring break rule. if football was in the spring the state of Fla would be in trouble because the city of ft Thomas would not be there.

This guy has no agenda I think JB does a nice job point is he needs to go some where he can make a difference and be appricated

Q11. Do you think a fast ball going 65 mph from 42 isn't hard to hit. It's like a 85 mph from the baseball pitching mound. Would stand you in there anytime and see how you fare.
