March 23, 201214 yr I received an email from NKU stating any child 12 and under admitted free with paying adult for the championship game Saturday. They are trying to pack the place for national television.

March 24, 201214 yr Losing Bellarmine from the National Championship is going to really hurt attendence. Bellarmine traveled well for both of their games. I don't see any way that they approach a packed house for the final Closing a side of the arena, so that the place will look half way decent when on TV. Attendance may be below 750. Each team only brought 50 or so fans.
March 24, 201214 yr The teams were out on Friday in the local grade schools giving speeches. It was great and the kids loved it. They were giving away tickets left and right but whether their parents take them is a different story.
March 24, 201214 yr What kind of crowds have they had so far? I was there Wed. night. Bellarmine had a large crowd. Filled 3/4 lower arena. 2nd game between Montevallo and Metro State. maybe 500 people in the gym including teams and arena staff. It was sad.
March 24, 201214 yr Looked like a decent crowd. W. Washington wins the crown Was the crowd larger than last years NCC vs Dixie 9th Region Championship game?
March 24, 201214 yr Was the crowd larger than last years NCC vs Dixie 9th Region Championship game? Didn't make that one.
March 25, 201214 yr Was the crowd larger than last years NCC vs Dixie 9th Region Championship game? Crowd was not comparable to a 9th Region final. Montevallo loaded up some buses and had a decent sized crowd though obviously not anywhere near what Bellarmine would have been able to bring to the event. I think in the end it will be one of the better attended Elite 8 events. NKU was originally awarded a 2 year bid and scheduled to host again next year. However, with NKU jumping to D1 it will be interesting to see if the powers to be at the D2 level revisit NKU hosting.

I don't see many arenas going out of their way to host a D2 event.
March 26, 201214 yr If you scroll down this link, you'll see that the NCAA does indeed plan on having the D2 Elite Eight at NKU next year. If you think about it, NKU can't go to the postseason for four years so why not host something even if it isn't the same division that you're in? Future NCAA Championships - NCAA.com
