  1. I wouldn't disagree the coaching has opportunities that would improve the team and their situation. That being said Ryle is playing 6A and none of the NKY teams would be threatening for the state championship on a consistent basis anymore than the Raiders do. When you look at how the Raiders do in NKY they are always in the hunt for the top spot in their district and have a lot of success against most of the NKY teams not named Cov Cath and mixed results with Highlands. They also year in and year out play one of the toughest schedules as the philosophy of the staff to play a tough schedule to try to be better prepared for the playoffs right or wrong. As far as wasted talent those mentioned above Morgan (NFL, USFL), Chisholm (Conference POY, NFL invite), Savage (West Point), the others what is your measure of success? State championships? - hard to win in 6a. All those players won multiple district titles had phenomenal statistics in their HS careers and some fantastic college careers as well. The Raiders may not be the toast of everyone but the kids have done and will do some good things. Some coaching changes would be welcomed as well.... schematically. As far as whet they have coming back if not mistaken 8 on offense and 7 on defense. They should be more athletic and faster overall as they look to mix in some young players from the freshman squad last year and some new players.
  2. Travel 7v7 is definitely growing as quickly as they can stack tournaments and teams it usually goes March - June. NKY has had a travel team(s) for about 3 years now (Charles Johnson and Team Tate prior). It's no different than AAU basketball in that is a different coach than their HS coach. Great opportunity for someone to make money πŸ™‚ all kidding aside it allows players to see a wider group of competition and the exposure side is picking up as well now as with any 7v7 translation to regular football can be debated.
  3. I can't imagine the Boone County Board of Education would allow any of the schools to not play in district nor Coach Warner being interested in that as competitive a guy as he is and the work he and his staff are putting in. I am always curious about the fascination with Cooper football being the best in the county to go to @theguru certainly they have some great players and a solid staff but the program itself hasn't out performed all the programs in the county nor their current district and 5A will still not be a walk in the park. Ryle playing in 6A certainly has massive hurdles (even higher with some new additions) to winning a title but the program has sent a lot of players to the next level to play and I'd guess more than Cooper even Conner may have more alumni who have been offered to play. The point being the county isn't a one stop program I can live with the what are your goals when considering a school (hopefully it's academics first) but outside of some rumors of getting a lot of kids approved who may be out of district I don't see where Cooper is the best program in the county.
  4. A little late but wanted to say congrats to SK on the win and awesome group of seniors over there led by Chase Crone. Couldn't ask for a more exciting game and kids playing their hearts out both ways. Good luck this week and in the playoffs to SK and Ryle tough sister district for them.
  5. Changing the subject I would like to say it has been great to see the sizes of rosters for most of the freshmen teams hitting 40 or more players so looks to be a good increase in participation this year hopefully teams can get most of those players back as sophomores and through a full offseason in their programs as there is lots of talent out there. Still surprised that Boone and Dixie are fielding froshmore teams but hopefully they are getting closer.
  6. Who knew freshman football could cause such a stir πŸ™‚ Not trying to argue stats one way or the other but here is the TD breakdown I see in film - please correct if it is wrong.... Ryle 7 TDs 2 rushing #41 1 Rushing #10 1 Rushing #2 3 passing TDs - 1 to #2, 2 to #5 There was a TD called back for illegal man downfield. Again I could be wrong feel free to correct me on where one of the passing TDs goes if it was a run. Overall great team win - forget what one player does this is a solid team.
  7. Good thing everyone is entitled to an opinion and maybe some of the negativity toward a 14 year old comes from someone posting a lot of positives about them so some adults feel the need to tear them down? or.. Feel worried much that the other person isn't getting enough hype? The Cooper love train has been in the fast lane all year and their QB has a world of potential and has grown a lot over the year and will have a successful career. To call Verax inaccurate shows you aren't watching games other than some time in the rain last night he has been accurate all year long but it fits your narrative and to say one has played varsity is better because of that is true it should make you better but getting to play varsity was about being somewhere where you had the opportunity to do so not talent or skill v the other as Ryle was already set at QB good that he took advantage of the opportunity at Cooper. I do agree with you that both programs should feel great about their current and future of the position the next 4 years along with supporting casts but don't think we should disparage kids in places they can see it - I also agree too many positives where they can see can be problematic but I would rather see that than looking to knock them to argue with someone. The best part of knowing both is neither has an ego. they are good friends and both support the other in everyway along with being happy for each other's successes. So that would be my takeaway for everyone is they are great KIDS and young men who will have fantastic careers when it's all said and done.
  8. TBD at this point sounds like Verax may be able to go pending how protocol goes this week but outside of that not sure they went through 3 after he went out of the game at St. X one being a RB. Don't think they wanted to fully throw the freshman in against a St X team but they got him a few snaps but against the camels I could see he may get more of a look if his older brother doesn't go. In all fairness I don't think anyone in district 6 6a is beating or coming close to St X. Ryle D played great till they got gassed and the offense struggled against the best defense in the state hands down. But the Ryle offense has some clean up to do I think they bounce back this week.
  9. Boone played well. He’s big and strong. Good back up.
  10. X looks great. Good luck the rest of the way. Ryle QB pulled for injury at halftime so played 3 other qbs. None of that mattered as X dominated on defense. Ryle D played a great half plus just worn down.
  11. Thanks for the food recommendations. Hopefully the game is entertaining for a bit.....
  12. Where is a good place to catch a quick bite post game for the visiting fans and to drown our sorrows πŸ˜€ before heading back I71 N? Losing Savage and Belk to graduation is super tough and would be for any team to lose that speed and production. On a positive note the youngest Savage has been playing a lot as a freshman on varsity and there's a good chance he could be the best of the three brothers as he matures and grows. Just looking for some positives Friday lol. But it will be a good experience for Ryle you should always want to play the best even if it can be a little painful but you can learn a lot about yourself in the process and hopefully it will help them finish the year strong after.
  13. Interesting not sure why Ryle would fall into that category and yet Cooper has it going in the right direction? Ryle continues to grow numbers have over 50 freshman who are back to back state middle school champions, the current junior and sophomore classes have a lot of talent as well. While in 6A no one has any luck from a standpoint vs the big 3 and probably won't ever barring a miracle but I certainly wouldn't count Ryle as program not having much of a future especially v county rivals. Thursday will see a little glimpse into the future when the Cooper freshman and Ryle Freshman play both are undefeated.
  14. Curious where you are going with the light at the end of the tunnel piece here?
  15. Ryle has 50 freshman on the roster and it looked like all that were dressed got in the game last night. The first week they probably played 30+ so the coaches are doing a nice job of getting players in the game to keep them developing and interested in sticking with the program.
