Elizabethtown 67 Simon Kenton 65
5thregion replied to Yellow Card's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
I have no dog in this fight, so you won't be seeing me next year. I just enjoy watching SK parents cry about refs when they lose. Chill out and enjoy the rest of your season, SK is a good team, don't ruin it for the kids. -

I agree, kinda like a bully(Simon Kenton) who goes around beating up classmates, then one day he meets his match(Etown), then bully goes home crying to momma about how someone was mean to him. Any idiot who teaches a kid to hurt anyone is within itself The Problem. -
Keep an eye on Bardstown junior Destanie Love
5thregion replied to Jim Schue's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
How did Bardstown even lose to TNHS the 1st matchup? Regardless, they turned it around and have the 2nd best player in the district with Love. Premier will be begging this kid to join them in the very near future. -
Head Coach at Nelson County Resigns.

Looks like from all the other comments on here your the one out of the loop, and making the irresponsible comments. The comments in post #31 proves others know what went on, and the amateurish administration you mention, knew also. -

This is what happens when you let a parent be a member of the coaching staff, feelings get hurt. They had this 7 years ago or so with another parent hopping on board while the kid was a member of the team. She graduated, he left, so as another poster close to the situation had stated, its a train wreck. Good luck to Coach Woods, he will be happier as the days go by, quality person all the way around. -

If Coach Swiney wants it, it's his. IF he wants it. -

This topic can be debated 1000 times over, and nothing will change. KHSAA is a spineless organization that has all these rules and regulations they have no way of enforcing. Taylor Co boys basketball is proof, kids moving down there living with guardians, or grandparents for 1 reason only, basketball. Complain and make all the excuses you want, parents are the sole reason these kids are moving, and its for sports. When a thread is made to soley attack a kid, or parent, is mind boggling to me. Why do some feel the need to question the motives of the family, it is their business, and no one else. I been down this road. As parents, we took our daughter to a school where she would benefit most on what she did best, and thats play ball. Her experience there was 2nd to none, and received a scholarship. Threads was made, addresses published, phone numbers hung on posters at the rival schools. Blame KHSAA, they are clueless. Nobody recruited her, the school and it's known history made us enroll her into the school. She is debt free, has a degree and is set for life. No coach in our district would have pushed her, been patient, and enabled her to reach her life goals. Bottom line, school should be fun, happy times, and no need to waste talent just because you live in a certain district. KHSAA doesn't care about all these kids moving around, why should people who post on the forum. KHSAA just hopes 90% follows the intended guide lines, and all is well. I can name kids all across the state who transferred in different sports the past 20 years, and nothing will change the next 20. -
Here is a problem for Tackett; "Total attendance for last week’s St. Elizabeth Healthcare/KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 at Northern Kentucky University’s BB&T Arena was 31,947, down nearly 17 percent from the mark of 38,489 that attended the 2015 event at Western Kentucky University’s E.A. Diddle Arena". We will have to wait till next year, and see what teams advance, which will directly affect the attendance figures greatly. As Tackett has said repeatedly, attendance is just one factor, others include how the hotels set their prices to the event. Traveling families will not fork out 135 per night especially now since the games have been spread out through Sunday.

WKU has proved that it doesn't have to have local "homer" teams to get good attendance. The people in the area love their girls basketball, and look forward to "Getting back to Diddle". On the other hand, the big city atmosphere of N Ky, may have too many options for people to do with their lives, and girls basketball isn't top priority. Bottom line, get the people up there to watch games, and quit finger pointing who should shoulder the blame. It is nothing but economics, and Tackett will not lose money in choosing a home for the girls. As I said before, I attended 9+ straight years at WKU, having to drive 1 hour 10 minutes. No one I know here that didn't have a kid playing went up there, as a 2 hour 35 min drive is asking too much. It has to be the local people who attend, and a few of you brag about your big population base. Why the poor attendance, outside of a local homer game? Obviously, you failed, Tackett has spoken!!

Erin Boley is named Miss Basketball

Hence why Western "took a chance" on her. As mentioned on here earlier, those mid range jumpers will not be there in D1 -
Mr. Basketball... Who you got?
5thregion replied to BulldogPride's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would say the attitude displayed by Taylor County the last 2 years cost Goodin his chance at Mr Basketball. The whole program was a traveling freak show, ask anyone in the 5th. -

I think some who posted elsewhere about the process being political, was just caught up in the moment. The player who won was most derserving, and the runner up will do great things too. Just overall bad timing to have 2 awesome players at exact same year. Congrats to Ms Boley -
Bolus has camps in the summer, about 400 bucks to attend. He chooses the obvious top players then from there he chooses players who attends his camps. Coaches from all over help at the camp, so it is a very political process, hence some players never recognized. Bottom line, if your kid is asked to play for Premier, you have a baller.
