Covington Holy Cross names Curt Spencer head football coach
JoeTuck33 replied to nkypete's topic in KY Football (High School)
Solid hire, Curt will do great things with the program. I have worked alongside Curt for several years as he is the NKYFL Vice President. Professional, cares about the program, and a great football mind. Looking forward to watching him lead the Indians! -

The way it shakes out now, I THINK we would end up in Russellville in round 3. I don’t think we could see Pikeville until the 4th round. That’s if I’m correct on Round 3 matchups being Districts 1-4 & the other matchups being districts 5-8? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. -

I think the longer RPI is around the more we will see teams schedule accordingly. NCC at 7-3 will probably be the lowest ranked RPI team left given we make it to the 3rd, 4th or Finals round. In the 3rd round I don’t think we will be anywhere near the worst team left in the field of 8. But we will play the highest RPI on the road because of our lower RPI. It will become a science to future scheduling. -

The best part about this thread is everything being complained about is “fairly” accurate and warranted on both sides in my opinion. 😆 Two very good teams, one clearly better than the other on the field tonight. Both should make nice playoff runs and are contenders for a title in their class. Good luck to both. Thoughts go out to anyone injured, you never want to see that, especially week 11 , non district game, that truly has no bearing on the season and probably didn’t help either in the RPI . If they continue the series, I’d love to see it week 4 or 5, not before playoffs, I don’t see the benefit to either team on any year. - A Breds Dad -
Unfortunately the enrollments are dropping at both schools. Both towns but especially Bellevue is getting much younger, with not as many families moving in. A lot of young professionals who are migrating back to the river cities to be near Cincy but not with 3 & 4 kids per household anymore. I was told both Grandview (Bellevue) & Lincoln (Dayton) elementary enrollments are at all time lows.

Does Bishop Brossart have the best defense in Class 1A?
JoeTuck33 replied to Bac2369's topic in KY Football (High School)
All 28 of those points given up to Newport & Holy Cross were in 4th Qtr, Varsity offense vs JV defense & One was a KO Return TD. NCC Varsity Defense shut both out. -
Clock should have stopped on the first down until the chains move and set the ball for play. Then they roll the clock. That didn’t happen so officials had to reset the clock

There was a whistle as the white hat put the ball in play. Not sure if there was another pre snap? Not positive, but I think the 5 yard penalty is from spot of the foul if behind the line of scrimmage. So if the second pass was thrown a yard or so behind the original line of scrimmage the 2nd down was close to 2nd & 16 or 17 when PI occurred. I haven’t seen film on it, but it caught my eye last night

The biggest question on my mind, is how do you not clock it with 10-12 seconds left. Set up for 2 plays at the endzone? Class, Robinson, Noon, Matteoli had big nights for the Birds. Landers, Rohlmam, Smith, Rice had big nights for the Colonels. Wibberly is a man!

BluegrassPreps Class 1A Football Rankings 8/30

NewCath defense played really well at Holmes, shutting down the Bulldogs playmakers. Lead by 3 Senior LB’s who are currently 1, 2, & 3 on the team in tackles. Holmes only points came from a blocked punt inside the Breds 5 which was picked up in the endzone. They will be tested again this week at Roger Bacon. The young Breds offense had some signs of life, but will need to continue to improve. Holmes brought the pressure all night, sending 6, 7, & sometimes 8 guys. Sophomore QB Smith improved from week 1 to week 2 and extended plays when needed on the final drive moving for 80 yards & the go ahead score. Junior WR Landrum came up with a few clutch catches to keep the drive alive including a 4 & 17. They aren’t where they want to be yet, but after Roger Bacon they have a stretch of very competitive games against similar size schools leading up to and through districts play. -
2021 COVID-19 Cancellations/Reschedules

Dayton Vs Pendleton rescheduled for Saturday. -
I will also say it was the best decision we ever could’ve made. The River City Ducks program has done great in its first 3 seasons. We now have great numbers for cheer & football. Consistently we are able to field all levels including youth. Allows us to place players in positions to succeed instead of positions of need.

The youth decision was absolutely a numbers game. Unfortunately Grandview Elementary (Bellevue) & Lincoln Elementary (Dayton) are at all time lows for enrollment.

Newport Central Catholic - 2021 Schedule
JoeTuck33 replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
NCC should be very competitive in this schedule. Good mix of multiple classes. Beechwood game is always tough and preps for a playoff run. The Roger Bacon game should be a much closer game talent level wise now that Kiner is gone. 😜 I just don’t like the impact of an OH game on the RPI, more to lose than gain. The Breds return 6 starters on each side of the ball and a couple more with significant varsity snaps in rotation . Including 4 of the 5 Offensive Lineman. 3 of the 4 LB’s from their starting rotation. Expecting 8-10 Seniors. Going to need a lot of new skill position players on offense to step up and in the defensive secondary. But they should be strong up front both sides of the ball. Looking forward to another great season!
