  1. Ok, after spending 30 or so minutes reading almost every comment on this thread, I have to comment. As a CCH grad (it's been a little bit), I have to say that 1) I respect Highlands, 2) I am happy for their huge win over St. X, 3) It's great they beat St. X because I know how those Ohio folks seem to look down on us KY folks, 4) The Highlands community is something every community should strive for, and 5) Can't we all just get along? I mean I have had some immature feelings towards Highlands while I was in High School but that's exactly what it was:immaturity. I have since grown past that and have learned to appreciate and respect them. I truly believe that both CCH and Highlands both respect each other although it may seem otherwise. I have met and partied with Highlands grads and you know what? They aren't yellow, purple, or even crazy weird. They are mostly just like you and I, wanting the best for their kids and schools. Is that really that bad? So, I don't know about how others feel, but I don't even look at it like a CCH vs Highlands thing anymore. I look at it like it's just two different but very similar types of people all striving for the same thing. I hope my posts makes sense and I hope I did not offend anyone because that is truly not my intention. With love.......The Beck
  2. As a Covington Catholic graduate, I told myself that I was not going to comment on this. However, after listening to Bill Cunningham, Eric Deters, and I believe Tom Dinkel on Friday afternoon on the Big One, I couldn't believe my ears. Fellas, does anyone stop to think about what the law says? I mean, Eric and Willie C. are lawyers, am I correct? I always thought it was common sense to think that if someone is a convicted sex offender, who has to register their address, then the person would not be allowed to be around minors and some graduates at CCH will be 17, along with family and friends under 17. To me, this is crazy. In my opinion, the courts really dropped the ball on this one, not Covington Catholic. If it were Tom Dinkel who was the sex offender, we would not be even having this discussion. Would we be saying, the "victim" no longer attends the school? Would we be saying, Mr. Dinkel has served his time?? I highly doubt it. Although, I do agree society does seem to have a different view on women sex offenders, and if it we're me at 16, I'd be all over it.......and it would've never gone this far. I'm just being honest, but it went far enough for her to get convicted, then to me it is a little more serious and the way Willie C. and Eric Deters were talking about how it's Lent and it's a good time to forgive, come on guys, you lost my respect. How about them talking about if investigations were done on every CCH parent to see their "dirt" before they could attend graduation. What a bunch of whack jobs that just say what people want to hear. In the end, I feel very bad for Alex and wish him nothing but the best. It really stinks it has to be like this, but this is a perfect time to teach him and his fellow colonels, that life just isn't fair sometimes. With graduation, comes the real world, and what a perfect time for a reality check.
  3. Congrats to Colonel Bieger. Colonel Bieger is an intense man who I respect and think will do a fine job at Cooper. Those who know the "Colonel" Bieger know he will do just fine. He was a legend at Cov Cath, and i'm sure he'll add to his legacy at Cooper.
  4. I wanted to add a little more about some of the kids who stood out to me. #14 from CCH looks like a great athlete and I think is only a sophomore. He was on the kickoff team and WOW he had a great hit on someone when breaking up the wedge. I could hear the impact from where I was standing. Just looking at the kid, he seems to have the body to be able to put on more weight the next few years. Does anyone else know more about who this is and what he's all about. Please post if you do. Thanks
  5. Congrats to Coach Hornsby. I always had a lot of respect for Coach Hornsby although he does love Louisville. Go Coach and Go Ludlow.
  6. After being down 20-0 it was great to see some heart from the Colonels and put the ball in the end zone before the half. This being my first game of the year, and not knowing much about this team, I will say this: 1. The catch and run by #9 Van Sant with the cutback across the field for the TD was absolutely fantastic and what a nice little block at the end zone by I think #18 to let Van Sant run in without any trouble. 2. The long run by #42 Deters down the sideline was amazing. At about the 20 he was running toe to toe to I think # 10 from NCC and got pushed towards the sideline but maintained his balance and tip toed into the endzone and that right there made me say WOW! 3. NCC has a tough bunch of kids and the Kelly brothers are tough, hard nosed runners. I love that about them. They are like machines and just keep pounding the ball. They definately don't go down on first contact. 4. NCC's QB is also a great athlete. He has a beautiful spiral and is a key weapon to have. To me, he played great and with a lot of guts. Overall, a great High School football game to be at, and a game I love to watch every year. Let's keep this game going.
  7. Please do tell if anyone does know. CovCath's school website has it announced as TBA. Thanks
  8. Being a longtime follower of CCH, my heart says go CCH but I really don't know much about both teams this year so it's really hard to say who may win but I did vote for CCH because that is where my heart is. All I can say is that these are two great programs with a lot of class and good luck to both teams tomorrow night. GO COLONELS though!!
  9. OK......let me take a deep breath here. After serving "my country," and reading the cbs article and comments the only problem I have is the "changing of heart," by the DoD. 2dLt Campbell obviously knew his obligation but to tell the guy it's ok to pursue the NFL and then you could be a recruiter for the Army and then to reverse it, IMO, the DoD dropped the ball on this one. Now as I stated before, I have served before and have seen the good and the bad of military life. I loved serving and have no regrets about it. I met some of the greatest people(in my eyes) and seen a lot of places I would've never seen but the downside to my stint in the military was the "politics." To me, this is strictly political. It sounds as if a "higher up" got wind of this and "couldn't let it happen on his watch." To me, IMHO, this is very sad for the Government and the image of the DoD. Now we wonder why things are so crazy in this great country. When one or more people have too much power, this is what happens....just sad to see the DoD look so bad on this one, when it could've been a great thing for all involved. How sad!!
  10. That a way Holmes. We're pulling for you hear at my house(all CovCath alums) Go Bulldogs..........win State! You can do it!!
  11. Let's go Bulldogs!!! Bring one home to NKY!!
  12. This one is one of those games where it's hard to pick who may win. I mean, Highlands has a great team, and CovCath has looked rocky early on, but I believe these boys from CCH believe they can win. I can't decide but I will say this..........we all know not to count CCH out so I wouldn't be surprised if CCH wins this game. Good luck to both teams......it should be a dandy.
  13. Anyone know if they have pre sale tickets available? And what time would you recommend getting there? Any info would be appreciated.
