  1. I looked all day today to find where it explicitly states that players going to camps can hit before August 1st. No luck finding it. I say that it is illegal because of the new preseason practice rules. 07/10/14 ? Reminder about Changes in Football Preseason Practice Rules | Kentucky High School Athletic Association
  2. Ignorance is no excuse. KHSAA let everybody know about the change. 07/10/14 ? Reminder about Changes in Football Preseason Practice Rules | Kentucky High School Athletic Association
  3. “There are a lot of athletes here,” Riddle said. “It’s that clear that (the assistant coaches) had been working with them in the spring in the absence of a head coach. They do have a base in terms of their weight room stuff. We’ve got a lot of kids here that can run.” Riddle noticed the team’s desire to improve and make a statement this season. “They want to win so bad, and I want to do every single thing I can to give that to them,” he said. “I’m seeing a hungry team. I’m seeing guys that have a fire and a desire to be great and to win.” Prep Football: Riddle taking championship approach - The Winchester Sun: GRC Sports A 4-6 to 7-3 regular season record is a very good possibility based upon Riddle's statement about what most of us already knew. A district championship is definitely a great possibility for 2014!
  4. For what it is worth, one of the posters on Paducah's topix stated that the reporter who did the story said that they would lose a practice day in August. MCHS Football - Topix
  5. Take away any scrimmages from the 2015 football season.
  6. Good article about Ken Howard as AD at Campbell Junior High School. Howard said the junior high teams will be in “vertical alignment” with the sports teams at George Rogers Clark High School. “We wanted to get guys that are going to work with the high school,” he said. “We want to get kids started through fifth-grade and on, following the same philosophy and the same player development so when those kids get to the high school, the high school coaches won’t have to start over. To have that same kind of vertical alignment, it takes buying in from everybody. We have great relationships with the high school coaches. Now we have the opportunity to turn the corner in athletics from junior high on (to the high school level). We need every resource available for us to do that.” Howard leading middle school merger - The Winchester Sun: Sports
  7. Tell us about the talent that HC has since you are friends with Marty. How is it superior to GRC's team talent in your opinion? If it isn't the talent difference, are you rooting for Marty as HC's offensive line coach over the talent and coaching at GRC?
  8. None of the schedule really matters except for the district games. If GRC can pick up a win on the road at Creek then they should win the district championship. GRC should be able to grind out victories at home against Central and Lafayette. :dancingpa
  9. It must be a huge advantage that you and Gold Sunrise have (since she liked your post) to be able to ascertain the talent level of a particular football team such as Henry Clay. What players remain from HC that will carry the payload for them in 2014? The game is at GRC in 2014. It will be a huge advantage to have this game at home after 2 straight seasons on the road.
  10. This is not the Henry Clay team with Elijah Bell that had Scott County on the ropes in the playoffs. Henry Clay is a winnable game in 2014 for GRC.
  11. Too much talent on this football team to have a 3-7 record as a top-end goal.
  12. I remember Holman from last year. The game is at GRC and not on the turf of Bourbon.
  13. GRC should have a very good secondary this year. I like our chances against Bolin. Who else transferred to Bourbon?
  14. Top Secret. I do not know.
  15. Who is the Bourbon transfer and what are his credentials? Henry Clay no longer has Elijah Bell so that is a good chance for a win. GRC did not have Sharrock in the HC game last year. Montgomery is at home for the first time since 2011. GRC will not lose to Montgomery 3 straight years.
  16. Any suggestions for future opponents on GRC's schedule?
  17. I spoke with a few players over the weekend about conditioning. Riddle is working them very hard. Offense and defense is starting to come together. Should be an exciting year for GRC football.
  18. Any word on scrimmage date? Opponent, time, and location?
  19. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best.
  20. I predict wins against Rowan County, Montgomery County, Lafayette, and Madison Central. Three possible victories are available from Tates Creek, Bourbon County, and Henry Clay. I do not see victories against Scott County, Anderson County, and Boyle County. All 3 of these are on the road against tough opponents.
  21. I believe that our juniors and seniors for 2014 played well as underclassmen in 2012 and 2013. They will become even more valuable in 2014 due to the off season efforts by Perry Williams making them stronger and faster. The recent JV success occurred with the juniors and seniors for 2014. Many of the successful players from the 2012 JV squad were successful as varsity members in 2013 on the offensive side of the ball. I have stated previously about the problems with the defensive side of the ball in varsity. Offensive production was not the problem in 2013, it was the lack of defense. I am hopeful that GRC will find a way to overcome its defensive woes in recent years and have a very successful season.
