  1. Whitley can host it, although I don't think any of the schools are large enough myself. I know a large number of people who refuse to go to the regional tournament due to the overcrowded conditions at the schools.

I got no where near Bell Co. last year due to the parking, overcrowding, and split sessions. I love region basketball but it was not worth the hassle. I'm sure they didn't miss me and my few dollars but I wonder how many more feel this way most every year. My guess alot, which runs into lost money. If the schools you mentioned dont vote for this change they are either bought off or not looking out for the best deal for their school.

  2. I for one don't feel its fair for the city of Corbin to benefit from this tourney evrey year. I like the feel and atmosphere of the high school gym's, and hope it stays that way.

Corbin the school no more benefit than the others, Corbin the city maybe a little from people eating and buying gas etc. but I wouldn't think it would be a large sum for the city at all. When you look at this way how is it fair for Knox Central to benefit greatly every fourth year in the 51st because of their larger gym size?

  3. Again just what I have heard, but I have heard that Bell's middle school Coach and Coach Hilton don't exactly see eye to eye.

Back to topic, I'm guessing when it comes down to kids not playing football it's a mix between kids not liking a coach for whatever reason, not thinking they are good enough, and parents not taking time to encourage them kids and taking time just to help their kids. I believe our pee wee league will get the numbers up a little in a few years!

It would be my guess they get along pretty well or the middle school coach would be gone and I don't have a clue who he may be.

  4. I agree that I took it a little far. I tend to get carried away when I feel passionately about something and it has really bothered me how much Tipton has alluded to wrong-doing wtih the UK program and players. I apologize to everyone for taking it too far, but I am happy that Tipton has helped things out by exposing himself as a fraud.

Looks like Tipton is the "FAKE PRESS". the one poster was talking about, not you my friend.

  5. http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/2009/10/mark-your-calendar-prp-scrimmage.html

I was looking at Jody Demlings blog and noticed something that seemed out of whack. Jody Demling says SL is scheduled to play at 3 at PRP on Nov. 21st. I thought Nov. 21st was the day of the scrimmages at the Corbin Civic Center and SL was going to play Scott Co.

I noticed that as well, 21st is the date for the games at the Arena in Corbin, South cant be two places at once. You said South was to play Scott Co. anyone know who plays who in the other games.

  6. The situation is Oakland is sad, and you have to wonder why. I follow Oakland because Michael Bush is there. But with keeping the topic on high school sports, the posed question about which high school team could give Oakland a game is, of course, ludicrous.

It might a good time, though, to mention the difference between high school players’ size and speed compared to the pros. Jermiah Neal is listed as 5’ 10” and 185# as a running back for X. McFadden is listed as 6’ 2” and 210# and ran a 4.3 40 yard dash. Michael Bush is 6’1” and 245#. What high school linebacker would like to tackle Mr. Bush? It can be hard with even trying to project a good high school player playing college football because of size and speed differences at the next level.

Alot of linebackers didn't want to tackle him when he was in high school either, surely not now!

  7. McCreary definitely feels like your still in the mountains when you drive over there. The 50th district will trade South Laurel to the 12th region for McCreary Central. S.L. acts like a bunch of flatlanders anyway. If you can justify putting the Laurel County schools in differant disticts you can justify putting them in differant regions.
 How in the world does a flatlander act anyway?:idunno:
  8. I film every game. We watch our early season game with the Hounds often. Watkins is UNBELIEVABLE on both sides of the ball (should be in the running for Mr. Football). Corbin is a well disciplined and very well coached team. Although I don't know a lot of detail about LCA, I'll take the Hounds by 2 scores.

I agree hard to believe now but he got his chance to be the feature back in their offense when Fritts got hurt last year, I believe. I guess he took his chance and RAN with it. A fine young man as well. But I think LCA will be to much for the Hounds at home. LCA 40 Corbin 28.

  9. I understand this is beating a dead horse..........but

I think Whitley is in the right district, I would think it is South that is in the wrong district. The first districts that people got to look at had Corbin, Whitley, Williamsburg and Lynn Camp in a district together, and South and North in the same district along with Rock and Clay moving to the 14th......I see that being more right. But it would appear that several folks had problems with it and thus it was changed. At least that is what I was told.

Clay could have dominated that region much as they dominated the 13th for years.

I think Whitley will be much better this year as well, as for Rock being in the 14th that would be a long trip for them to anywhere, don't remember that, Clay on the other hand could make sense for them to be in the 14th. I never understood how North and South were not in the same district either.

  10. I think some of you pass too much judgment and reach some conclusions prematurely on here. I really don't think you can form an opinion on someone based on a sentence or two on the internet, which were made in an attempt to joke around.

Say what you mean and mean what you say>

  11. Most fans think about Lynn Camp and they think physical football, I mean they call them selves the "Hitmen"

Williamsburg is thought of a more of a finesse team, with the "Air Jacket" thing going on.

Looks like Williamsburg beat Lynn Camp at their own game.

Williamsburg won the game becuase they were more physical and more varied in their offense, while Lynn Camp had no passing game what so ever. That let Williamsburg really concentrate on stopping the run, which they did for the most part.

    Congrats Jackets!

You just may be on to something :sssh: surely there are athletes at Lynn Camp who can learn to throw and catch a football, when everyone knows what a team is going to do it becomes real easy to prepare for them unless they are way better than you. Good win for Jackets which sends LC on a long, long road trip I guess for the playoffs.
  12. That's what I thought as well. A first for me!

One ejection, which disallowed that player from participating in the varsity game and she won't be able to play on Tuesday. The officials didn't see what started it (nor did I), but they did apparently see how it finished. The players and coaches quickly had the 2 players seperated and 50 feet apart before I realized what had happened. Apparently, there was a comment about a specific parent in the stands made by a player, the comment was heard by the daughter on the opposing team and it was not well received. There were no incidents to report from the varsity game, but both sets of fans were pretty fired up and very vocal. Nothing bad or negative at all, just very supportive and LOUD for a small volleyball crowd.

Just wondering why would this player have to sit out two games is that the rule? I'm like you; watched a few volleyball games and not seen anything like this and in the shake-up line to boot.:scared:
