  1. Its definitely a 3 way race with LeBron, Kobe, & Durant. LeBron has the slight lead over Kobe. If Durant can keep up his play and the Thunder can continue to win he will get some serious consideration for MVP, just depends on how he continues to play because its a given that Kobe and LeBron are going to shine.

  2. Nice win for the Jags. JC had the lead at the half, but NL prob lead most of the game. I admit, I was worried about this one and how NL was going to play. But they continued their intensity and quality play after the big win at Knox Central on Friday. JC has a good, young team and starts 3 soph, one eighth grader and one senior. They will be a force in the future.

Sounds like this was a good game, I agree Jackson is a very young team with a bright future I've watched the 8th grader he is going to be a good one.

  3. Is it true that Lynn Camp will be gaining several of Corbin's starters for next year due to the Knox Co. Board of Education not signing the agreement for students who live in Knox Co. School District? Several people tell me that Dave Mithchell may be setting on a gold mine and may be considered one of the favorites in Class A football state champions.

If LC gained one Corbin starter it would suprise me:scared: I don't see this happening at all. Setting on a gold mine thats funny!

  4. I kind of disagree. Not had a winning season in the last 4 years. Lost 1st round of playoffs 3 years and didnt make playoffs 1 year. The few times I've seen LC the last few years they havent been as physical as years ago. I do know in 1A football the talent pool varies a great deal from year to year. IMO he needs to tone done his schedule because in the long run it has taken a toll the last 4 years.

I agree with you here, its one thing to take on any and all teams no matter the class makes you seem tough but when you have low numbers the players take a beat down and injuries pile up. Then the district games roll around and some of your better players can't play due to injury. I would think LC will have a similar season in 2010 to their last 3 or 4. Nothing to write home about.

  5. Oh cry me a river! You don't see football officials responding to screams from the crowd so why should the basket officials? They're paid to do a job and if they don't like the pay; then get another job! Good or bad officiating, they should never allow the fans to interpret how they call the game. If I pay to see a game (and officials are part of the game) and I don't like a call, I'll be more than happy to say so. A good official is one that has a thick skin and controls the game itself, not the fans. So learn to take the harsh and obnoxious criticism and continue calling your game whether you're good at it or not.JMO
I agree basketball officals shouldn't respond to the crowd it just adds fuel to the fire, but I disagree about the football officals they are usually so far away from the crowd there is no way for them to hear whats being said. If someone on the sidelines is screaming personal things they get moved. Basketball on the other hand, the crowd is right on top of the officals. Thick skin I would think is a must for a basketball ref.
  6. I'll be in a state of shock all the way to London and back.

Harlan County beat them by 40 or so in the game I saw. Maybe they added some players from the varsity or moved some up.

Did Harlan Co. JV play Corbin's JV this year? If so how did that turn out? On a side note it would have been much more interesting if the A game had been a little closer.
  7.

They get paid, and there are no repurcussions for their mistakes - no matter how big or small a mistake is made. The majority are shallow and weak. They listen to coaches and fans gripe about something, whether it's legitimate or not, and then they call it because they think it pleases someone. They go into games with a bias about who is supposed to win and lose. They talk about players and what they are going to do before the game is even played. They talk about how they don't like a coach or team before the game even starts. They worry too much about make up calls instead of calling the game fair. They worry about ratings and whether their assigner is at the game to watch them. The reason I know this is because I used to be a high school referee, and all of this stuff made me sick. No, we are not too hard on officials.
Sounds to me like you were maybe talking about yourself, if so its good you are a former high school referee, a small percentage may be this way but its very, very small. As others have said I feel most officals let the comments from coaches and fans (if not personal) roll of their back like water off a duck. I always thought it would be a real site to let the fans with the loudest mouths call just one half of a game and video it. I'm sure it would make America's funniest videoes. Officals have a hard job at best, I sure wouldn't want it.
  8. Bad Weather 1, Corbin/McCreay Central 0.

It would be bad if weather keeps this game from being played. Down the road in the region this type game would be important to both teams for the experience alone. Is McCreay going to get a massive snowstorm? While listening to Corbin and LC last night Dave and Dave said at least 5 or 6 times weather may keep this game from being played, hope not.

  9. Read the sports section of the Sentinel Echo Monday edition for complete coverage of that game. Picture of ref and Wright.

Ref Jeff Ely born and raised in Corbin. Graduated Corbin. Played for Corbin Redhounds. Still lives in Corbin. Enough Said. Whether he has a grudge or not only he would know that. :idunno:

Disagree with that statement, sounds to me like no matter who the official was Coach Wright was asking to be tossed or see just how far he could push the issue, guess he got his answer.
