Maybe nothing wrong just got beat. By the way the facilities are awsome there!Congrats Tigers. Man Scott County has the facilities and the money. What is wrong there? -
:laugh::laugh::laugh: I said Corbin could win the 13th! But so could Lynn Camp or Harlan... Oh by the way how's South doing this year? What seed are they in the district?
I agree with you but why throw in a backhand comment about two other schools.:idunno:

Very nice hire for Garrard Co. Brad will make them a fine coach. Does Garrard have a new high school about ready to open or maybe it is already, went by the area about a year ago saw work in progress.
-
It makes sense to align with the schools. If you live in Hebron, why would you want to drive all the way to Union 3 nights a week for practice, and vice versa. If you have more than one child playing, it can be a nightmare running all over the county.
Am I missing something or did you get off on the wrong exit? Anything new out of M'boro?

You are hearing right, my friend.:thumb:
Ok I'm curious now what have you heard?

I'll assume that this whole thread is based on what I posted in the Dunbar thread and that's fair. As Jim stated, averages suggest that a bigger school should have more talent than a smaller school, just because there are more possible players. But it is up to the coaches at both school sizes to mold those players into winners.
For example, Billy Hicks is a fantastic basketball coach. But he has a whole lot of kids to pick from. Many of those players are very talented. Could he go to Burgin or Sayre or even a 3A school like Garrard County and win games? Probably, but not likely at such a high rate. The reason being he just wouldn't have enough talent to work with.
I'm not complaining and in no way am I suggesting basketball should be classed. But there should be more talent in the bigger schools and they should do better than smaller schools. What is impressive are the smaller schools that routinely do better than the larger schools around them.
Hicks was very successful (not Scott Co. successful, but successful) at Harlan which is 1A and Corbin 2A so no "probably", involved high rate maybe.

Scott Co 73
Corbin 57
I would agree with you this score sounds about right.

Seems like they were decent when he was there.

If you like the pathetic whining and screeching of Axl Rose you might want to get your ears checked.... :walk:
GnR had a great guitarist in Slash, absolutely the worst excuse of a singer in Rose I've ever had the displeasure to listen to.
Guess I need a ear check I like Guns and Roses and yes Slash is probley the main reason I do.
-
Oh good Lord! That was horrific!!! :puke:
Personally I really liked it but I must not have the proper ear for music like you!

You had a good crystal ball for this one.
After talking to the coaches in the summer, it looked like a two-man race between St. John and Miller, with Johnson third. I think most of the posters also said one of those three.
Wilson had a great season though. He comes to play every night.
I saw several college coaches talking to him and Johnson and Hooker after Saturday's games.
IMO a great choice for this award, unlike the early two favorites Wilson plays with a lot of heart and a passion for the game at all times. He plays every minute like it may be the last time he is on a basketball floor, others just seem to go through the motions at times. Johnson though plays really hard as well, but can be hot or cold, with the two best players in the region Corbin should have rolled and they did taking care of business.

For me Knockin' on Heaven's Door by Guns and Roses.

Funny stuff right there!:jump:Steven A Smith.Did a little research on what the A. stood for.
-
Man! Don't know what those officals were looking at that wasn't even close. After they leave the gym nothing can be done about it I think thats the rule, not sure?:ohbrother:After watching the Franklin Co v/s Henry Clay video I would argue that in instances where it is available referees should be allowed to use replay to GET THE CALL RIGHT on buzzer beater situations. What do you think?
-
It was easily a foul. Count this as one of the times you are wrong. St. John fouled Broughton, the kid easily went over the back. Like I said before, you get outscored 14-10 while St. John sits out for over seven minutes and you're already ahead 30-22 then you lost a golden opportunity to put the game away.
Ok if you say so:isurrender:, Maybe the rest of South's players picked it up when St. John was out, to me it was much improvement from KC over the last couple of weeks to even be in this game.
-
It sounds like Sanders just used proper fundamentals and blocked out the bigger kid, forcing him to go over him for the rebound. I could not tell for sure where I was at and apparently the official that make the call had a better look than me.............or maybe just better eyesight.
Been wrong many times but it looked to me like he was just standing there, not in a good block out position at all, the big boy was behind him but not over him, your eyes may be better than you think.
-
From were I was I agree it should have been a putback, not an over the back foul, the kid from KC was about a foot taller and the player from South didn't attempt a block out. One of the non-breaks I was talking about, should have been no call there, but this one play didn't cost KC the game.
-
:thumb: He certainly did. I really felt for him, fouling out in his final game in the closing minute. It was interesting to see Matt St. John from South Laurel hugging and consoling him after the game.
A real good game, I thought KC was going to pull it out. The free throw line killed them. It was a (bad bad bad)foul Milller went out on, just grabbed the South's players arm almost a full court away from South's basket, hard to figure. To me KC looked to be well coached and they sure didn't catch any type breaks on a couple of calls late in the game, but if they hit their ft those calls don't hurt them. KC has the potential to be pretty good next year. South and North in this setting should be fun on Sat.

Thanks for the updates!

Lafayette is playing well at the right time, I would like to see them win the 11th!

Maybe you were but most of your posts seem to be put- downs to me about the Arena, Corbin, and 70's shows as well, no wonder you got those guys fired-up. Most are enjoying the tournament hope you can as well.:popcorn:Campbell Field,I, too, can appreciate you taking the time out of your day to debate my posts. However, correct me if I'm wrong, but the first time you made a post concerning this topic, it started out "UKFan8", YOU ARE A JOKE!!!!
Therefore, to me, that sounds pretty much like a personal attack rather than a reasonable response.
I took great offense to the opening statement of that post, thus, prompting me to defend myself.
However, as stated in the first post of this thread, I LIKE The Arena. I think it is a nice facility. As for me personally, though, I tend to appreciate the tournament officials, the communities, and most of all, THE PEOPLE I have met in doing Regional Tournaments at individual high school gymnasiums.
With the basketball we saw there last night, THE KIDS should be celebrated and committed for putting on one of the greatest shows the 13th Region has seen in Game 1.
I was simply making suggestions for improvement from the very first post, in which some of them HAVE been corrected. It is a testament to the Tournament Officials that those adjustments have been made.
Hopefully, now, we can all ENJOY the tournament like I said in the last sentence of my first post about The Arena and celebrate the good brand of basketball the 13th Region is putting forward.
-
I agree Clay and Corbin should be intense and a great game, Sat. may be the largest crowd to watch a basketball game ever in the 13th region history. If North and South both make it as well wow!
-
Wilson for Corbin was more than outstanding, he came back after that soild lick of a pick and didn't miss a beat. If Robbins (I think thats his name) could have played all year Bell would have a much better record, he owned the Hounds inside, it killed them when he fouled out, Number 15 is a real player as well for Bell . Both teams had their chances to win. Hard game for this tourney to top. Thought the Arena was a very good place for this to go down. Good atmosphere, great game.

Knox has played much better lately and could make this a good game. I see South winning though 65 to 57.
