Here we go again:eek: Have you seen Miller? Grimm had a big game last night. Miller had a very solid game last night with 4 td's himself. Remember what Miller did to Bell Co. Almost mirror image of Grimm last night. Grimm leads by 2 TD's and Miller leads by a few yards. It is a dead heat.

He was 3rd in 3A before this game.

So is Miller. They are pretty much in a dead heat at this point IMO. Two great backs that hopefully will get an opportunity to go head to head in a few weeks and see which one gets to represent Region 4 against the NKY bunch.

Sometimes it's you should think twice about what you wish for, it just might come true. ;) Actually I am kinda hoping for the same thing myself.

I agree if the game is close then there is an argument for little if no movement.

Stickymitts here is the original question about the loser of the Cov Cath/Highlands game. No where does it say they should fall 5 or 6 spots and I never suggested that they should, I merely said the loser should drop in the polls.

If you read my posts I have said the same thing from the beginning. I have never said that either team is not a top 5 or 6 team. The posts by many of the NKY faithful have stated that they are so far ahead of everyone else that even the loser should stay in the top 3. I happen not to agree with that position.

I believe that Lexington Catholic is the defending state champs! Also, rankings do not matter at this point in the season. It only matters the first weekend in December. It should be a fun AAA playoffs because there are some really good teams and who ever is playing the best at the time will be the AAA Champion. Your right I was looking at the KHSAA site and forgot they haven't updated it with last years winners. But my point is still valid in that a teams recent success can be a determining factor due to returning players and the fact that they have experience in big games.

The last ten Championships have been dominated by HHS and Boyle Co. CCH has not even been to the state championship since 1997. Yes HHS and CCH are great programs but it only takes one good team each year to beat them. No one here has argued against these teams being top teams. The point is each year there has been one or two teams outside of NKY that can compete with them and play them competitively. Granted it might be two different teams each year that is why rankings need to focus on current accomplishments. The fact that HHS won the state championship in 2004 should play a part in current rankings, but a CCH state championship 9 years ago is no factor in this years rankings.

Thanks Colonel-Fan. I have a lot of respect for the programs here in NKY and I have stated that many times. I also know that many people up here have the same opinion that you do unfortunately many do not. Fortunately I grew a very thick skin many years ago.

I live in campbell county now but grew up in "po dunk U" as you call it. Just because people don't agree with the people in NKY doesn't make their opinion any less valid. IMO you need to keep your comments like "po dunk U" to yourself.

I agree that it is a factor but somewhere in a current season you have to start basing rankings on current records and activity and I believe that if you take the names out of this that most people would agree that if a 2 or 3 loses to another team in the same class or lower that the 4 and 5 have a valid argument that they should move up in the polls. I am a Rocket fan so my team is not involved in this debate in any way.

My point is they are a factor larger than the teams that don't have them will admit but they are also a factor smaller than the teams that have them want to admit. The question is just where is the middle ground? BTW this is a rhetorical question for those who feel compelled to answer.

I guess it is clear through rose colored glasses. I would agree that HHS has a better argument to stay above those three than CCH does. I also agree that neither team should fall below all three of those teams but there is a valid argument that they should at least drop to a 4 or 5 spot if they lose.

I agree with that as well and if you notice my posts to the JC fans I have told them that you earn respect over time. I don't expect HHS or CCH to forget about their tradition but I do expect them to give the same respect to teams like JC, Central, Rock, Lex Cath that those teams give them. You treat people with the same respect that you expect from them.

I agree that it should be considered but it is not a huge factor. I have no argument with current rankings but once you lose inside your own class then you cannot ignore those losses IMO.

My argument is very valid. Untested does not make you a bad team. Would the undefeated Miami Dolphins have been a bad team if they had of played college teams or would the undefeated Indiana basketball team been a bad team if they had of played an all division 3 schedule. No. The teams would have still been great but they would not of had a valid test to determine just how great they were.

The Rock has a 1-1 record against HHS and 1-0 record against CCH. MY point was only that there are teams outside of NKY that have quality programs. I was speaking in context of this seasons rankings. Yes I agree championships mean alot and everyone cherishes them.

HC50 I agree that HC has an argument for being ranked higher with an undeated schedule in 4A. They are a legitimate team. IMO it is possible for HHS or CC to beat Henry Clay. I think both sides have a valid argument on this one.

Since we are bringing up past champions and HHS and Boyle have won 7 of the last 8, maybe we should just rank them 1 and 2. CCH hasn't won one in 9 years so maybe they should join the second string like the rest of us outside NKY. I am just joking but this illustrates how silly this past champions argument is to the current year IMO.

I am sorry but ranks are about current year not past years. I mentioned Mercer because like it or not they deserve respect this year. They will have to suck it up next year IMO but until then they deserve their current ranking. Schedules are important that is why losses to teams outside of KY or 4a teams have not hurt HHS or CCH so far but losses inside your own class should cause you to drop. I am not saying past championships don't help your teams motivation or intimidate some opponents but it doesn't play apart in ranking the current year. As far as work ethic don't underestimate how hard kids work outside NKY. These kids put there heart and soul into football year round. The Rock doesn't have one of the biggest, strongest O-lines in the state by taking the winters off.

No I don't that is why I have no problem with HHS and CCH current rankings. We are talking about after the HHS vs CCH game where each are playing within their own class. The same class that Central, JC, Rockcastle, Lexington Catholic are in. The point is when teams are playing within their own class or a lower class IMO if you lose you drop. You may not drop much according to who you play. IMO with JC record even though untested I think they have a valid argument to be ranked above which ever team loses the HHS vs CCH game.
