  1. W. Jessamine scrimmage first followed by mercer and West at about 7 and concluded by Danville and mercer. Mercer will have an eye opener with Danville. We will have a good indication where they really are after that one! Does anyone know when boyle scrimmages?
  2. I'm not sure but I think one of the Jessamine county schools will be there also.
  3. I didn't think Mercer would play russell or belfry until the finals this season? So far the Titan report says they look REAL good. Be interesting to see how they fair against Danville. It is easy to look tough against yourself although they do have close to 100 athletes.
  4. 1. Boyle county does not beat themselves. 2. they do the little things just as if they are of equal importance as the major stuff. 3. The players expend so much energy before during, and after the season that losing is not an option. 4. they do not panic when they are down, they expect to win. 5. It also has not hurt having Bart Johnson (Georgetown college) Jeff Duggins (Mr. football), Brandon Smith (Western Ky) as the QB's. 6. Stability in the program, coaches that have stayed around and have resisted head coaching opportunities to stay at Boyle. 7. Yes, they have had some talented players but so do a lot of schools however, Boyle coaches use them wisely and get them to buy into the system that is best for the "TEAM" Just a few reasons for their success. also... Chuck put a lot of time and preparation in the first 3 or 4 seasons to get the program built. Chuck also said many times that his "style" would not have worked at most places but Boyle players accepted more than guys from some other schools. they are thick skinned whereas in other places they would have quit... and did. Very demanding... but a heck of a coach.
  5. cutigerlb26, I think you miss understood me. I was not saying there were schools in 2A that had a larger enrolement I was stating that there are schools in this state with larger enrolements, 3A and 4A that could not win 2A. The fact that Mercerburg will have 900 students is an issue because they MIGHT be a tough team next year if... they were like some other less talented teams in 3A or 4A that did not pose a realistic threat next season there would not be this discussion of enrolement.
  6. What was Boyle Co. enrolement the last year they won 2A? Before jumping to 3A. I'll bet it was close to what Mercerburg will be this upcoming season. One of the Mercer coaches told me that they would play 2a for one more season. Sundays Advocate Messenger artcle sure seems to support this as well. Doesn't really matter though they will still have to get it done on the field. There are many schools with a larger enrolement that could not win 2A however, because many see Mercerburg as a serious threat next season enrolement is a big issue.
  7. any schools express interest in Patterson from Casey Co. at the combine? I was impressed with him last season. He sure looked legit at Centre too
  8. Mercers new facilities are very nice. This is exactly why I was in favor of the merger the new athletic facilities and school etc. will pull everyone together in the community and the school will be much stronger as a result. There are obviously some hurdles to overcome however, most everyone I talk to from both schools see the consolidation as a unifying event not as something bad. If you could have seen the Harrodsburg and Mercer boys interact at the Centre Combine you would see how good this will be. All of the young men were very excited about the upcoming season, they were supporting each other and eating together like they had been teammates for years. Can't wait until next season!:dancingpa
