  1. I personally wouldn't know officials from one region to another. I have no problem with physical play and in the 11th it gets real physical. With regard to hand checks, I do see many times refs let alot of this go and I have a problem with it when a defender gains an advantage with the hand check. It is basically a situation where the defender is holding. This type foul is often let go when a defending team is behind.

The only option for a ballhandler when physical hand checks or holds are allowed is to get physical themselves by either knocking the hand check off or using their shoulders.

Fanofthe11th, love your avatar The American Ball Eagle is just an amazing animal.

Your post is right on here. I kept yelling they are holding us.

I know you couldn't tell from this game, but believe it or not Gallatin is a very aggressive team, I would love to have refs like this in the 8th.

  2. Final. First boys game played in Boone's new gym, anybody have any stats or info? Did Boone missing football players play an impact?

Of course Boone missing FB players had an impact. There are several good BC Football players that are also very good basketball players. One that comes to mine (Cory Farris). Once they have them back Boone will be hard to beat IMO.

  3. I think the officials in the 8th region have their own officials association. I know when Scott Co was in the 8th region there were several years that Scott Co choose to use the Bluegrass Officials Association instead of the 8th region association for their home games. This was due to their frustration with 8th region officials. I always thought this hurt Scott County in the 8th regional tournaments. There were years it seemed the 8th region officials took a "take that" attitude towards Scott Co in the tournament.

Can a team choose to use Bluegrass Officials or do they have to use the officials in their region?

  4. Don't get me started on 8th Region officials!!!:thumb:

If 11th region refs are with the Bluegrass Ref assocation, who is the 8th with. I actually thought all KHSAA refs were trained from the same standards.

Our boys in the 8th and 9th are afraid to breath on a player without getting called for a foul. Why isn't there a standard for all ref assocations?

  5. I will say that Scott County does have a lot of class. There cheerleaders were even classy because they even tried to cheer quitely.

I did have some Scott County fans ask me why a Class A team would come play a Class AAAAAA team. Many people don't understand the incentives involved and I am glad our Wildcats experienced this.

Saturday Night against Walton should be a totally different game.

  6. As a Gallatin County Faithful and just getting home from the game because of sitting in construction traffic, it was a long night. I thought SC would beat us by 20-25 points, but Wow, they are very tough. I will say that it really shows how size can really make a hugh difference. Even if a SC players was guarding us 2 feet away, they could still block our shots because they were 1/2 foot or more taller. Also, I wish the 8th region refs would allow players to play this aggressive with their bodies when guarding and players going up for shots.

  7. So Edumundson & the other 4 seniors meant nothing to last year's team?? I respect their team and Coach Jones' style, but I thought they lost a great deal to graduation, and they're playing the defending state champ and a current top 5 team in the state. Obviously anytime you take the court you have a chance, but expecting an upset of SC is asking a lot?? Good luck to GC!!

I am not expecting an upset. Please see my earlier post in this Thread, and as far as last years Seniors they meant a whole lot to our team and we miss them, and I did not say they meant nothing to last year's team. Everyone says we lost a lot to graduation and we did, but we also have a lot that game back. Edmondson helped us win many games. (Owen County games come to mind), but our starters this year have played together for many years and have been coached by the same coach for all those years. They are just fun to watch. Maybe everyone on this thread is right and SC will beat us by 25 and sit their starters so everyone else can score as much as they want, but these GC kids will not give up!, That's why SC should not take us for granted.

  8. As Clubber Lang said in one of the Rocky movies----Pain!! Scott County by a bunch!! Gallatin always plays hard, but lost a lot to graduation; and this is a team in a different league!!

If I was Scott County I wouldn't take Gallatin for granted. Those who say Gallatin lost a lot to Granduation know nothing about this years team.

Hopefully, Gallatins players won't read BGP and if I know Coach Jones he is telling his player they only need to prove it on the court this year.

    Go Wildcats!!!!!!!!!!

  9.

I had to laugh. Sorry!! I would categorize this game as a lets see where we are type of game. I think this game will guage in what direction Coach Jones needs to take the team and what they need to work on to get to the next level.

All I have heard is that this is the team that Warsaw has been waiting for. Let's see if the Wildcats live up to the hype.

Thats Ok Buttels I was laughing when I typed it. I agree lets see where we are. I had heard that Scott County was recieving their State Rings this night. Do you know?, and are you going to broadcast this game? If so, you may want to wait until the Walton game on Saturday.

  10. I think you guys need to come down to reality. I know Gallatin has a very good squad and will be a team that can win the 8th Region title but Scott Co is LOADED. They have size that GC just cannot compete with. I am always pulling for the underdog and hope they put up a great fight but I think Scott Co takes this early season matchup handedly.

    Scott Co 87

    GC 63

Look forward though to following the GC boys this year.

I did not say Gallatin would win this game, I think Scott County is too much for Gallatin also, but I think it would be a closer game if it was a post season game. At least we are playing an incredibly tough schedule this year that will prepare us for the All A and The 8th Region. Gallatin Coaches believe in this team:jump:

  11. I would love to see Gallatin win this, but with the football players Brown, Henson, Carlton and Davis just returning from Football this will be a tough fight to beat such a great team. I know it is a little different for Coach Jones and staff dealing with football but they will have them as ready as possible. I also believe Scott County players do not play football and have not stopped playing Basketball since last season. I know some of you out there will say it doesn't matter what Little Ol' Gallatin has, they will never beat this years Scott County team, but if we were playing at Post Season Strength, I think we could beat them.

  12. The Cincinnati Enquirer NKy.com Basketball Preview is now on-line. Excellent piece of work by Ryan Ernst and his staff. Lots of stories and information about all the teams from the NKy area.

I guess Gallatin County is not considered NKY or Louisville. At Least Buttles trys to give some recognition to our beloved Wildcats:confused:

Hopefully the Boys will make some noise this year so NKY can hear them.

    Thanks Buttles!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. what happened in the game.

Trimble defense must of been great.

I know that Gallatin had to use their 3rd string QB.

What Happened...Five Fumbles etc.... but I wouldn't say it was because of Trimbles great defense. The game was scoreless in the first half and Trimble didn't score until a fumble recovery. I am so proud of our Wildcats and of our young quarterback starting in only his second varsity game. Also, with a very short time to adjust to a new offense, our coaches did a great job.

Congrats to Trimble. I could see the Trimble coaches excitement during the game from the stands and I am happy for them and the players for the first district win.

As for our seniors:thumb: Everyone in the county will always remember you and the amazing 2 short varsity years of football you had. You were leaders on and off the field and you have paved the way for our future football program. I hope we can watch some of you play at the next level.

Congrats again to Trimble and we look forward to seeing you on the hardwood.:p

  14. Trimble Co. was not ready to play in the match up. Hawkes did not do what he is capable of doing, Peters did not play up to his potential, and Trimble's D was missing tackles. TC also made alot of mistakes. I am confident that Coach Poynter and the Raiders will not let these mistakes happen again. With Bird being out, TC is playing for him. He is the motivation and Big Mo is rolling! :thumb: Hawkes is using his legs AND arm to beat teams now and Sullivan and Bray are putting up big numbers. It will be too much for GC to handle come Friday night. Best of luck to both teams! :thumb:

The fact that those players for TC that you are mentioning did not do this, or that... and had a sub-par night... only makes you sound like you are giving excuses. Gallatin that night was the better team offensively, and defensively. This MIGHT explain why those studs of yours had a bad outing.:D BTW, some of the season stats I have seen in print puts Gallatin's pathetic little old team among the leaders in several categories, including passing defense. You can check the KYpost for more details on that.:ylsuper:
