  1. Gallatin led 66-57 with 5:40 left. South scored the next 15 points to lead 72-66 and finished on a 32-13 run.

5:40 was the beginning of the crazy part. Two Technical fouls given to Gallatin Coach Jon Jones forcing him to be ejected. Then a gallatin fan throws a cup on the floor and gets ejected. It was a very wild scene. Great game Though.

  2. I will be the first to give the Dragons the nod! They just beat a solid Anderson Co. team... plus, I think they shoot it better than the Wildcats...home court advantage might be enough for the Wildcats.. but, I'll still stick with South Oldham!!! Bring it on!!

I Believe they are playing @ south oldham. Should be a good game and a tough one for the wildcats.

  3. I'm reposting most of my thoughts from a response I made in another thread, as I felt that strongly this topic needed to be addressed for the sake of the PLAYER'S involved, who I know read this site!!

    My original thoughts as follows:

Several comments and a thread were started by a supporter of a larger, district rival school, who was on the original Brossart/Bardstown game thread, trying to jealously diminish from the NKY schools' recent hard fought triumph in the All "A" classic; which to the roughly 120 participants is considered a state championship, regardless of who promotes it?? ....... trying to belittle 17-18 year old kids' lifelong goals & dreams in some cases; and both are very wrong, intentional or not!!

Last year the Brossart Mustangs lost in the semis to eventual champion Bardstown, and their supporters congratulated them on their win. The year before one of the finest teams in school history, lost in the finals to Hazard; and again the support and congrats were extended from the Mustang faithful. This year BB managed to work their way through one of the finest fields in recent years, defeating the defending champions, as well as the 7-time champs along the way!! The kids' reward for all their blood, sweat & tears is having to get on BGP and listen to a few (note--No Bardstown fans among them) try and belittle their accomplishments by saying "it's not a real state championship", "it's no more than another tourney", "should you have to decide to play the All "A" or the Sweet Sixteen", etc. No one is doubting that the ultimate goal of every KY basketball team on October 15th is to hold the big trophy on Saturday night at Rupp?? Everyone realizes the KHSAA recognizes one-class basketball in the state of KY, but for the smaller schools, who rarely get the opportunity to even make it to Rupp, much less lift the heavy hardware; should they have to endure bashing and belittling of their hard earned accomplishment when they win the All "A"??????

Fortunately I was in attendance at the CovCath/Scott game last night and saw one of the Brossart Mustang players, who was enthusiasticly and warmly congratulated throughout the game by both Scott and CovCath supporters & students alike. He was interviewed by CCH internet radio, and treated warmly by lifelong opponents & high school basketball fans in general; but most importantly to him, recognized as a STATE CHAMPION by all who came his way!! These are the memories I sincerely hope he takes with him through the remainder of the year, and on into graduation & life; not the jealous rants of a few "wanta-be's" and "never were's"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Mustangs--You Made Us Proud!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm getting on my soapbox a little, but again I felt strongly enough and care deeply enough about the kids involved to address this matter in a new thread!! Call the All "A" what you will, but about 120 participants (roughly half of the basketball playing high schoold in the state) started a couple weeks ago in regional tourneys and culminated in a four day matchup @ EKU which determined ONE Champion (format sound familiar)!!

Argue multi-classed vs. one-classed hoops, public vs. private, size of an "A" school; but don't try to tell those boys (and the many teams before them) they aren't STATE CHAMPS!!!! :thumb:

As a Gallatin County Fan also loosing to Bardstown last year who won and now to Brossart this year who won, though hard to swallow, does help our boys continue to keep their heads up and hope for next year! Most of the county papers I believe post the news as Class A State Champs! Brossart Boys know they are, their community, school, teachers, parents and Friends know they are Class A State Champs and that is what is important!

I hope Gallatin and Brossart make it to Rupp Too! Small but mightly!

  4. Cody Perkins Gallatin County. This Kid is a joy to watch. He doesn't get near the attention that Edmonson gets, but in my book he makes this team click. I wish he had another year of eligibility. He's only 17.....
:ylsuper: I agree!!! Perkins deserves much more attention than he is getting right now. He should have been All A Team in my opinion. Nice Post.

Also, Brown and Henson very hard workers, Brown came back from a serious foot injury last year and Henson with an bad ankle sprain from football and small rotator tear in shoulder from Carroll County game. Tough Kids that will play in pain to win. Both these kids work very hard on defense, Brown always gaurding the quickest and Henson at only 6'3" working hard in the paint defending the big guys! Let's not forget T.Jones, I don't think I can take seeing him get hit in the face again:fight:

  5. Unless I am way off base about tomorrow's championship, my Gallatin Co. Wildcats will lose to the eventual champion 2 years in a row. Only this one is tougher to swallow.

Good luck to the Mustangs in the final.

 I totally agree, Maybe our year will be 2008! I know Gallatin's bench won't be as deep in 2008 but the team may be the most experienced Class A Tournament team in school history????

    Go Mustangs!!!!!

  6. Elmo was a fan's fan. Not loud and screaming, but one of those type of folks that was there, win or lose. He's was the type of person that if the team lost, he would be in the gym after the game to tell them keep trying.

    He will be missed.

Personally, I think his seat in the Gallatin County Gym should remain empty and possibly a plaque put on it's back, with a memorial to him.

How about it Gallatin county faithful????

Great Ideal! Also, it would be very heart felt if the boys ran over and touched his seat after thier name was called in the line-up.

  7. It is one thing of getting them to practice and games (year round) and cheering them on and it is another to undermine the coaches and teachers that are giving of their time to help these kids.
I agree, the last game against Carroll and Gallatin, I was sitting right behind the Carroll County bench and the players were very disrespectful of the coaching staff I guess it was just fustration, but it was still wrong.
  8. I bet there are 12-15 boys that are not really having fun playing basketball this year.

I do agree that an aspect of it should be kids being kids and the fun of the game, but as adults aren't we supposed to help them into their greatness and victories.

Absolutely!!! As a formal athlete, I had to rely on my coach to get me to practice and games. I did not want this for my kids. Parents have to be more involved. The majority of the Gallatin County kids have played together since they were in 6th grade and the parents of these boys have always been there to get them to practice, games and enter them in the camps. All done with the coaches help! The programs have to start at an early age to build on. There is not a player on the Gallatin Team that doesn't have their parents, grandparents and even some aunt and uncles cheering them on every day With a class A school, there can't be just one stand out athlete to make the team successful. I know Carroll County has youth programs and if the kids stay together than you will be successful again! Best of Luck!:thumb:

  9. Going to be a great game! Can't wait to see these two go at it. I have not been able to see the previous meetings. I think gallatin will have the edge based on their physical play, but it will not be the cake walk for either team like last night was. Going to go down to the wire. At least we don't have to be cleared out of the gym for this game tonight. Good luck cats.

Thanks Coaches Wife! You and True Blue and Gold have always been supportive of us. It shows the true respect you have for kids and high school sports. Hope you guys are going to wear Blue and White tonight!

  10. I'm back! Stuck around to watch the nightcap. Carroll scored the last 5 points to win 54-50.

Back to the Gallatin game. I think it took the Wildcats a quarter to get adjusted to the slick playing surface.

As for charging twice, in 2002 when Gallatin hosted, they cleared the gym, but did not double charge. If you were there for the 1st game you got a ticket and presented it when you came back for the 2nd contest.

Mack do you have any stats?
